I would always put Dream at first and Drexler second. But for TMac to be the 2nd best Rocket, bring us a ring first which he should be able to do with Yao.
I can't believe three pages and no list has at least included AIR BULLARD if not Moochie Norris. Come ON people!
Not exactly, he'd go on my list of top 10 list of Rocket A-holes, right above... damn I can't think of anyone else. I guess he's #1-10 on that list.
an emphatic no. All the best rockets I've seen wore championship rings. Though by that logic CHarles Jones would be better... hmm, I might have to revise my thinking
Points All-Time- #20 Assists All-Time- #24 Steals All-Time- #6 10-Time All Star 2 NBA Finals Appearances 1 NBA Championship Umm- I'd like to know your reasoning for Clyde Drexler being in the top 75 but not top 50. Matter of fact, I'd be interested to see the 29 players you feel were better than Drexler 47% FG percentage 78% free throw percentage 5.5 assists average for his career I'd like to know under what warped thinking puts Drexler outside the top 50, much less top 30. Oh, it's not all about stats? OK- Clyde Drexler never played on a team with a losing record. Ever. So, what else is there? Please let me know because, beyond individual statistics and team performance, I just don't know what criteria you're using, except Most Quotable, which is the only way he wouldn't be top 50. Swish.
Be honest, can you even name 10 shooting guards besides Michael Jordan you would put above Clyde in an all-time list? - Dr. J - John Havlicek - Oscar Robertson (even though he's more of a big point guard) - George Gervin (debatable b/c Clyde has a better all-around game instead of just being a pure scorer) Uh...after that I'm pretty much drawing a blank.
Exactly! And Dr. J was a forward! I understand cases for Walton, Parish, Worthy, Shaq (at the time), even Ewing maybe not making it to the top 50. But Clyde? I've never heard anyone say that he didn't belong in the top 50- and in the last poll they did for a NBA History book released by the NBA in 2004, Clyde was ranked #28 of all time. Lionheart- please- homerism would be touting the all-time greatness of Horry, Cassell, Maxwell, Thorpe, Floyd, Yao, Francis, or Mobley. Clyde? Please. Top 30 easily.
Oops, haha...I was just throwing out random swingmen's names. Now that I think about it, he was indeed a SF.
Lionheart, watch more clyde games before you talk about him not being in the Top 50. He's one of the 4 guys with more than 20k points, 6000 rbs, 6000 assists, something like that, in the NBA history. That tells everything. Besides he ranked #6 in the total steals and his fastbreaks were the greatest IMO. peace
Guys like Dave Bing and Walt Frazier were well-rounded, but I still put Clyde Drexler above them. Clyde was every bit as well-rounded on offense but significantly better on defense. Gervin I suppose is a wash. Even though he couldn't rebound/dish as well as Clyde, his ability to put the ball in the basket was simply uncanny. I think Drexler's stats were better than Havlicek's, but 8 rings is pretty hard to argue with (although having Bill Russell on the team was pretty huge factor). As for Jerry West...yeah I'll agree with you there.
Actually he was in Houston during 4 seasons of his career and averaged about 19pts, 2steals, 5.5 assists and 6rebounds while being one of the key elements in bringing Houston a 2nd NBA championship. It was not the amount of time he spent on the Rockets as much as it was the quality of the time he spent on the team. Clyde is a no brainer. Drexler was The Man on two Portland teams that made it to 2 NBA Championship series. Drexler proved for years that he was capable of carrying a franchise. Scotty Pippen wilted like a shrinking violet when he had the chance to carry a team with out MJ and I have heard no one mention his spot on the top all time 50 players list.
There's only three players in that exclusive club that they put up more than 20000 points, 6000 rebs and 6000 assts. Oscar Robertson John Havlicek and Clyde More, 1) Clyde has the third highest career efficiency points behind the two MJs in the guards position, in the NBA's golden era of 80's and 90's. 2) He still holds the playoffs record of scoring most points in the overtime. 3) Since NBA started to make the record, Clyde's career triple double ranks him number 6 in the list, Behind Magic Johnson (138) Jason Kidd (61) Larry Bird (59) Fat Lever (43) Michael Jordan (27) Clyde Drexler (25)
Jerry West is another that you never hear mentioned (as a player) He was very dominant in his day. Underrated I’d say. Connie Hawkins is another.
Tracy isn't really in the top ten yet. Let's at least make it to the playoffs first. Were not a shoe in for that. This team is so inconsistent. He's still behind The Dream, Franchise, Glyde, Hayes, Malone, Sir Charles, Murphy, Rudy, Sampson, Robert. There is plenty more. The players I named actually did something with this team Tracy hasn't done sheitt yet.
