Huh? The 3rd round rookie starting his first game ever put up basically the same performance as the 5 yr vet has this season, and that's somehow a positive for Freeman?
Schaub was certainly not elite, but he was almost criminally under-appreciated by the Houston fanbase, he was by far the best QB the franchise has ever seen, and will probably remain so for a long while. The people who whine about him have forgotten what a truly bad QB looks like. Even though he had his down years, he never once completed less than 61% of his passes in his time in Houston....something Andrew Luck has still never done and something even Tom Brady failed to do last year. It was time for him to hit the bricks, but the fact that he is so greatly disrespected says more about the Houston fanbase than it does about him.
Whoever says Schaub sucks (overall) is definitely overstating and hating. However, saying things like "best QB the franchise has ever seen" and "61% comp %" doesn't mean much considering the other option is Carr and 61% aint ish when you usually crumble every primetime game. Schaub is nothing more than a transitional QB. He's a high 6.
Under pressure and in the biggest moments of a prime time or playoff atmosphere type game Schaub was the biggest loser I've ever seen at qb. Now when there was no pressure or we played games where we would be down big Schaub would have flashes where he looked like a pro bowl qb. Overall Schaub was fool's gold which is the perfect description of his game at the qb position. He's really neither hot or cold... he's lukewarm so Texans fans hated that more than just a qb that sucked routinely because you really didn't know what you may get or may not get with Matt Schaub. That just plain makes you frustrated with him.
