Obviously this is apples to oranges, but I wasn't speaking literally. It's more of a sports radio type question to get a discussion about what his career may end up as. Yes football is the ultimate team sport and basketball just isn't. The thing I'm referring to here is that David Robinson was the face of that franchise. San Antonio loved him and thought he would eventually lead him to the promise land. That was not the case. Football is the ultimate team game, but lots of times for the good or the bad the QB is often put as the face of the franchise. In the Texans case it would probably be Andre or Mario, but the NFL as a whole takes extra caution to protect the QB because most times they are the face of a franchise. Matt Schaub is at the most visible position on a team in the NFL and he has a QB rating in the top 10 of the league so he is no bum by any means. I'm just trying to start the conversation that in the end. When it's all said and done will we look back on him as a really talented guy that looked amazing most of the time, but in clutch situations failed more often then he succeeded. Or will he get past that hump as great stars do and lead us out of the NFL cellar.
meh. no wonder I wasn't interested. I just don't see the Admiral in that light. Teams win games, even in basketball. Those Spurs titles weren't just about Duncan; it was Ginobli, Big Shot Bob, and later Parker. They needed the entire cast. I'm with the guy earlier who said Schaub couldn't carry Robinson's jock. They called him "soft", and he is just a clear level beneath Dream (like 99% of everyone else to ever play NBA ball EVER), but he is still an all-time great. No question about it.
