Schaub needs to grow some balls and call a TO if your head coach is too stupid to manage that aspect of the game.
He throws the ball so well in the fourth quarter. If anything I wish he could spread a little bit of that around to the rest of the game. Schaub isn't our problem... none of the players on the offense are, really. It's the godawful coaching and defense that are the issue.
I wish Kubiak would have allowed him to be clutch and do a short play action roll out on the 10 . . . .for a vontae leach streaking to the TD Rocket River
Yeah, but if the pass is incomplete, that's less time they have to run off the clock. Plus, there's higher risk of a turnover with that play. I would have preferred a run to the outside instead of 3 up the middle.
Honestly the only way for the Texans to have sealed the victory without giving the ball back to the Jets was for Bentley to take a knee after he caught the pass. That would have given them ample field to work with to try and get a first down or two to make the Jets use their timeouts and burn the clock. Would have required their whole arsenal of plays though.
Not a bad strategy, and you're right... it would have likely led to us being able to use more clock. Just goes to show you how historically bad this defense is, when you have to resort to strategies like "kneeling an INT, instead of running an INT back for an attempted TD", or "Going for a TD at all costs, and not running the ball, forcing the team to use all its timeouts, and kicking a FG to put you up 4 with less than a minute." Terrible defenses leads to offensive guys second-guessing EVERYTHING. This team could have eeked out these last two games and it still likely wouldn't have mattered. I'd rather these issues get exposed (and lead to losses) which almost guarantees change... rather than wins being allowed to cover up clear facts and deficiencies that need correcting ASAP.
It's gonna be like this the rest of the freaking week. One thing I hate about the NFL is that after a loss, it seeps in for like a week and brings idiotic "fans" out of the woodworks to express their "opinions", to put loosely, and that **** drags out.
Yes, Colt McCoy IS looking like the next Drew Brees. 1/3 of 1/3 of us see that. Yes I defended Matt Schaub when he's throwing for nearly 5000 yards, only losing one fumble all year and guiding the team to a WINNING season. Halfway through LAST season I eased off of that clutch label. I never said "Shaub is clutch" just he's a solid QB and serviceable to NOT lose games. But you can attribute some losses to him, which means un-clutch.
jesus how many hidden schaub threads are there. completely forgot about this one. He is the same schaub he has always been, a heck of player, only now the defense isn't allowing the other team's offense to go 90 yards in 40 seconds with no timeouts. f' the haters.
