Look you bunch of whining babies...... get over it.... not everyone sups at Matt Schaub's nipples...lol. I think he is a good QB, but there are things I do not like about him, I believe you can rattle him far too easily. So sorry that you guys don't agree....no actually, I don't care that you don't agree.... I am glad you all think he is Payton Manning part 2...I do not. DD PS. To be fair, I do think he is better than Vince Young...so there....
Do you watch football? Between this and your Kareem v Asomugha argument it doesn't appear that way. Unless you're actually Skip Bayless himself. Just this year, he came back against a Redskins team on the road that played the colts close. Now the Chiefs who held Manning to no TDs and Schaub to 2. Not to mention getting us downfield against the t*** on Monday Night last year only to have one of the two we don't name miss a field goal. Those are the first that come to mind, but there were others.
This thread is like one of those Geico commercials. Suit guy: Can switching to Geico really save you 15 percent or more on car insurance? Is Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub a clutch player? <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/-jH6dJQbNl0?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/-jH6dJQbNl0?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
I say this stat during the game today. Since Matt Schaub joined the Texans, they have led the NFL in 4th quarter touchdowns. I think that says it all right there. Not only is he clutch, he is among the most clutch players in the NFL
Are you serious? Do you even watch Texans football? One of his core strengths is that he doesn't get rattled and keeps his cool while under pressure. Of all the weaknesses you could possibly choose from, you choose his strength? Here's some stuff you could have said about him. Holds the ball too long. Inconsistent first half play. Runs like a girl. Questionable decision making at times.
I haven't read one post in this thread, but will say, I'm more than happy with Schaub. No QB is clutch all the time. Schaub is an upper tier QB IMO. As far as the Texans go, a healthy Schaub is the least of my worries. We all know this team has much greater concerns.
schueb sucks. There are things about him I don't like, therefore he sucks. For example, he is slow, balding and droopy eyes. Clearly not clutch.
did you watch yesterday's game? did you not see him move in the collapsing pocket to create time for his receivers? i'd swear you're not watching these games...just a few here and there and the highlights. either that...or you've chosen a position a long time ago, and you just refuse to budge in the face of evidence to the contrary. but that couldn't be you, right?
His movement within the pocket has been great this year. Sure he has been sacked, but more often than not if he has an avenue of escape he can find it for at least a little while. His problem is the bootlegs where the defense is sitting on it. Course, I guess that's not his problem, but Kubiak's problem since the defense seems to always be ready for it.
He has some issues, (ie holding the ball too long, some questionable decision-making at times) but overall I think he's pretty clutch.
I think what people are taking offense to is your perceived opinion about something that you can statistically show to be unlikely, and observationally show to be completely untrue. Meaning your opinion, while true just an opinion and not definitively refutable, most casual and avid observers of the game would find to be not a very astute one. I.e. - it's wrong. He's clearly no Peyton Manning. Or Brady, Brees, Rothlesberger, Rivers. That's probably your for sure top 5 QB's today. You know, you can add Rodgers. I think both Rivers and Rodgers can be overrated at times, as they are both young gunslinger types, but still, call that a definitive top 6. Matt Schaub is clearly in the group of QB's that round out the top 10, and anyone who wants to argue Matt has #7 firmly entrenched has a solid argument. He certainly has faults, but calmness under pressure and clutchness aren't them. If I had to list things Matt could improve on, they'd be: - Reduce turnovers. - Improved audible play-calling and blitz pickup - Improved middle of the field short route game: associated with the above, you just don't see the Texans throw a lot of 3-6 yard quick slants - Stronger arm for deep routes - but really, he can't do much about this and he has more than his fair share of success with deep routes, anyway, but the Schaub underthrows his receivers on deep route concerns has been brought up once or twice. But with all that, he's as good at the 5 step drop, 7-20 yard routes as you'll find, he's great at the bootleg, has great pocket presence, hits receivers deep more than enough, is great at hitting a bunch of receivers - including properly utilizing those tight ends, has gotten considerable better in the TD-Interception ratio department, is a surprisingly decent scrambler, has learned not to take unnecessary risks with his health and seems to me to clearly be a leader our there.
