You are absolutely correct. As I sat there and watched the highlights, I couldn't help but think of when we got him. At the time, I was happy and thought he'd be good, but man I didn't expect this good.

The best thing about the guys we have is that they're all young. Let's hope our city can finally get NFL championships. Either way it should be fun watching these guys for the coming years.

when a qb throws 250 yards in 2 games to have a total of 500 yards .. he might be mediocre..

when he throws 500 in ONE game he is not mediocre.. nor is he mediocre when he can say he has the 6th highest throwing yards in a season .. and when he can say he went to the pro bowl and won the pro bowl mvp ..

u do understand the meaning of the word mediocre right????

I still kind of think that the texans could have traded out of their number one pick and moved down to say 3 or 4 and still have gotten mario.. i was never bothered by mario being our pick .. i was just upset that with so many people wanting reggie, we could have milked that pick a little and still gotten our man

and manning doesnt ???????? when its all said and done two of the best wr to qb combos in the game might be manning/harrison and manning/wayne ..

if kerry collins can do ok with those receivers, I d have to imagine schaub can do like 3 times better .. esp with chris johnson in the backfield

Schaub is always been clutch, now the difference is that the texans won, because the kicker made the FG to win.
Last year, he made the same drive to put the team in FG Range, but the kicker always missed it.

Its very easy to say we should have traded down...but if there is no team to trade down with, then there is nothing you can do.

Plus, there is no guarantees that Mario would be available.

If you want Mario, and you know you need him, then by all means, just take him at 1 and dont risk anything.

yah that makes sense and I slowly came to terms with that .. I just always assumed that at that point there was interest for reggie bush .. we knew titans were gonna take vince at 2 .. so if we had said all along we wanted bush I think we could have gotten a 2nd or a 4th rounder from NO to get bush .. I think the jets may have moved up too but then, it depended on NO as to if we would have gotten mario or ferguson ..

i was pissed during the draft .. I am glad now that we have mario .. (have been since his second year) that guy is a beast!!!!

The Saints picked 2nd in 2006. I remember reading most mock drafts that the Saints intended to pick Mario number 2 when people were assuming the Texans were going to draft Bush. I really don't think there was anyway to trade down and still be able to draft Mario. You got to remember, its hard to trade down from the first pick in the NFL. A lot of teams don't want to pay the draft picks and the big signing bonus to move up to number 1.

I was going to let you all battle it out, but I felt compelled to respond to the bold part.

He had ONE fumble last year, is that your definition of "all the time"?

^^^LOL - I will stick by all of those....got to stay the course.

I still think they should have drafted Vince instead of Mario...because that would have been the end of David Carr.

The existance of Carr on the roster had a lot of influence on my thoughts of the number 1 pick.....

And I think VY is coming along ok, had a bad game, but overall been winning at about a .667 clip, not bad....

I am glad they didn't take Reggie Bush though.....all of us were right about that.

Kubiak getting the Texans job was hinged on backing Carr initially.

Kubes got the job, he said what needed to be said to get the job.

VY in the present Texans offense is like handing a zit faced kid the keys to the Lambo. Andre Johnson would be a wasted talent with VY at the helm.

I completely agree with this. VY would not fit in our offense at all. He's in the correct style of offense with the Titans and is an average starting QB in that system. With Chris Johnson they can win games despite his weaknesses in throwing the ball downfield. People can type what they want about believing VY is better then Schaub but I think it's more of an ego then anything. Any person who honestly believes that comparison is even close is an idiot.

McCoy never was a starting NFL QB. He may stick in the NFL as a backup at some point but he's not even at the level of David Carr. There's nothing wrong with supporting him because he went to your school but that Drew Brees comparison is brutal. I actually think DD is a good dude who treats everyone respectfully and he admitted he was wrong about Schaub, so he should be off the hook for that. I honestly do want to know if he really believes Colt is the next Brees. DD what say you?
