That is because they can't read, which makes this post irrelevent because I guess they can't read it either. Such a quandary. DD
yup. Damn our high standards of a guy who threw for the 6th most passing yards in nfl history for a season with an average defense, no running game, fumblitis RBs, a choking kicker, subpar O-line and outside of AJ (and the limited time OD played) average WRs
DD what did you think of Vince's outfit choice for tonight's big national championship game? Approve? Disapprove? Too conservative and not flashy enough to make plays with people's eyes? Give us your latest take on your main man Vince..
R.O.F.L. even J.V.G.?! in the middle of a game, b. belichick and J. Clayton weighing in on this beat-down. Skip Bayliss also makes a show of saying certain players suck when he knows otherwise (though even he has always praised schaub). They do it for ratings, just to get people listening for more statements they can shake their heads at. Though SKIP at least knows when to back off, & sometimes even admits when he was wrong when it gets ridiculous... but this guy is going down with the ship. r.o.f.l. @ van gundy. maybe if von wafer said it too, then he would admit it. WM
Imagine Vince Young playing for a team that didn't have a good running game and a good defense. He would be thoroughly exposed. Schaub put up some of the best numbers in history this season with a terrible running game and a subpar defense. At a minimum, he proved that he is an elite NFL QB. He will only get better as the Texans shore up their running game and defense over the next few seasons. If Young was playing without the aid of an elite running back and a good defense, people wouldn't even be talking about whether or not he's clutch. They'd be asking if he can flip burgers or do something else not related to playing quarterback in the NFL.
I see your argument, but our defense wasn't that bad. They finished 13th, which isn't great until you consider they were challenging historical lows the first three weeks. After week 3, they were like fifth in the league. Now if we had a kicker.......
When you say 13th and 5th, do you mean 13th and 5th worst or best? I didn't know exactly where we ended up but I figured we were still below average, defensively. Regardless, I think all else the same, the Texans would have struggled to win 6 games this season with Vince Young in place of Schaub. On the other hand, put Schaub on the Titans and they probably finish the same or better. I have no agenda against Young. I like the guy. He was a stud in college. I'm just not cool with DaDa coming in here pooping on Schaub while slurping Young when it's blatantly obvious who the superior NFL QB is (and no, DaDa, it's not Young).
We finished the season tied with the Giants for 13th best defense. After the first 3 games of the year, we averaged giving up 301.3 yards a game...that average would be 4th best in the NFL.
The Texans defense was lots better than the Titans this year. But either way, the defense doesn't have nearly the impact on the ability of the QB as the running game does. And in that respect, the Titans were top 3, while the Texans were bottom 3.
Thanks for clarifying that, all of you. I didn't realize we ended up that good, defensively. I was wrong about this season but Young did benefit in the past from their defense, certainly in terms of his W-L record which DaDa loves to cite as evidence of his NFL greatness. NCAA: Young > Schaub NFL: Schaub > Young Logic > DaDa
I was not that high on Schaub when he first got here. But as the seasons have progressed there is absolutely no question that this guy is a one of the better quarterbacks in the league. There is just no debate.
Now that the season is done, we need to redo this poll. I guarantee you it would be closer to 25-75 clutch...
