That's you then by inverse taking the Grossman IS clutch thing since he obviously won in play-off games. You cant have it both ways.

Schaub makes clutch plays. To deny this is to deny the sky is blue or grass is green(or at least yellow during the winter). They dont always translate to wins, because Football has 10 other players on offense and 11 defenders out there trying to win the TEAM game. Then you also got the kicker/punter who can have an effect on the outcome.

It's not extremely short sighted, it's just not always the most truthful statistic. If you agree that more often than not, the QB that has the best performance will win the game then you can see why they use the stat. You can't say that about any other one position on the field. That you don't like the stat doesn't mean it's meaningless or irrelevant. It's just meaningless sometimes.

I think Schaub is a top 8 QB right now and I've stated so. My problem is less with Schaub than with the people here that trumpet his losing performances. A few weeks ago they were all posting his QB rating and the fact he was leading the league in passing and they've stopped posting his stats now because his rating is going back down where it should be so they're stuck on Schaub's clutch loses, as if Schaub has no accountability for his performances. Schaub has not played as well the last four weeks as he did against crap teams earlier this year and that's one of the reasons we've lost. Nothing wrong with pointing it out but apparently that makes you a Schaub hater with some blind fans. It's this thing where they're pleased with Schaub's performance if he drives us down to miss the game tying field goal even though our offense only scored 17 points the rest of the damn game.

    Now that's more like it.

Had you not come in after every loss at least appearing to point the game results solely on Schaub this thread would be about 1/5th the size it is now.

Schaub shows toughness after going down hard
Quarterback returns after dislocation, makes game competitive

    http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/fb/texansfront/6756647.html

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — When Matt Schaub was sacked on the Texans' first play and left Sunday's game with a dislocated left shoulder, no one expected him to return.

This was the first time Schaub started a 12th game in his three-year Texans career. And it was the same shoulder that required surgery in 2007.

Not only did Schaub return and replace Rex Grossman, but he took the Texans from a 17-0 deficit in the second quarter to a 23-18 loss in which they had more than enough chances to defeat Jacksonville and avoid a four-game losing streak.

“Same arm, same injury,” Schaub said. “Dislocated in the same spot. I don't think it's quite as severe as the one that happened two years ago.

“I came in, had some X-rays, and they reset it. I went back out there to play.”

Schaub, who finished 19-of-27 for 207 yards, one touchdown and one interception, was in excruciating pain when he came down on his shoulder while being sacked by defensive end Derrick Harvey. The pain was at its worst when Dr. Walter Lowe popped the shoulder back into place.
    Pain lingers

Schaub's shoulder hurt the remainder of the game, but he dealt with it.

“You're in the game, and the adrenaline's flowing, and there were times when I could feel it,” he said. “They put a harness on there, which kept it in place.”

While Schaub was in the dressing room, the Jaguars were scoring 17 consecutive points.

“I'm constantly asking them, ‘What's going on in the game?'” Schaub said about being in the dressing room. “I'm just trying to get the X-rays; let's hurry up. I'm thinking we're in a two-minute drill, but for the doctors, trainers and the staff, they're like, ‘Hold on. Let's make sure.'”
    Show of fortitude

Schaub never thought about not returning to the game.

“Absolutely not,” he said. “They were giving me all the scenarios, and I was like, ‘Who cares? Just put that brace on, and let's go.'”

Schaub returned to the sideline, made a few throws, took a few snaps and spent a minute or two on the bicycle to loosen up.

“I was able to throw,” he said. “It was my non-throwing arm. I wasn't going to be diving too much. But I did dive on it once on a scramble, and (wondering) as I was going down, ‘What are you doing?'”

Schaub will undergo an MRI today. He doesn't expect the injury to cost him any playing time.

It's kinda funny how the value of backup QB's acquired through trade has changed.

Schaub cost two 2nd round picks to trade for, while Matt Cassel (plus Vrabel) cost only one 2nd rounder.

Maybe the Chiefs just got the friend discount, I don't know.

I was definitely glad to see Schaub show his leadership and toughness in coming back.

Now if he would've only audibled out of that stupid HB option pass at the line.

NE ripped of KC in that deal, not the other way around.

Of course the Patriots made Cassel look better than he was going to be with he Chiefs.

Their offensive line was much better, and they had a big time receiver. Not to mention some great coaches and mentoring on that team.

How do you come to that conclusion? KC only had to give NE one 2nd round pick for Cassel/Vrabel, so I don't see how NE ripped off KC.

We gave back-to-back 2nd rounders to ATL for Schaub.

I came to this conclusion by watching every single Kansas City Chiefs game that Matt Cassel has played.

Cassel wasn't worth a 2nd rounder then and, considering the long tradition of QBs in KC sucking....I doubt Cassel ever will be worth anything more than a 4-5th rounder. But KC took a chance on him....and over compensated.

vrabel didn't sweeten the deal any, that was a favor by KC so NE didn't have to show vrabel the door, which they probably were going to do.

vrabel has been a huge dissapointment for the Chiefs. not suprising that an old vet leaves NE and goes on to another team to blow hard.

Well, when you put it that way........

This deal will definitely take time to fully evaluate. Cassel needs the opportunity to have a team built up around him. Meaning OL/WR/RB. He's got almost nothing at this point. Imagine if he had an in their primes Roaf/Shields/Waters/etc to protect him.

But speaking purely in terms of trade transactions, KC didn't give up a ton of draft picks to get Cassel. It's just one 2nd rounder.

But you're right in that no other team offered more for Cassel. :)

I agree that Cassel doesn't have anything around him right now. But Tyler Thigpen didn't have much around him last year either and Thigpen was looking pretty good. I know it was a spread offense, and KC still lost a ton of games, but they were competitive in a lot of those games and it was mostly due to Thigpen. Tyler, at times, showed some real electric upside.

this year, with nearly the same offensive personnel, Cassel looks lost and inept. I just can't buy into anything Cassel did in NE. It was literally the greatest offense in the history of the game. Cassel will NEVER be surrounded by that kind of talent. ever again.

it's cool though, as a Chiefs fan for nearly 2 decades, I'm used to not having a top QB.

Cassel got 63. Schaub got 48. We got the better QB for less imo.

If he has all the weapons(i.e. - Owen Daniels and the O-line)than I think he can be clutch. I think the biggest drawback this season was both our starting guards going down right out the gate. That really hurt us and the main reason why we do not have a running game as of yet this year. Just sad to see this year get flushed down the toilet because of it.

Does a true CLUTCH QB need all the weapons or does he make the team Clutch because of his play?

I say the latter....a good carpenter never blames his tools.

Doesn't really matter, since he has been clutch with and without them all season long.

another moronic and desperate attempt for attention.

matt schaub is not 5-7. the texans are.

the only people who keep track of this crap are people who watch football in a vacuum (dadakota) and commentators who need to fill hollow analysis, typically achieved with mindless drivel like stupid and meaningless stats like a QB's W/L record.

    hey DaDumbass...

what is Aaron Brooks' W/L record as a starter?
