what's sad...i can't even tell if he is kidding or not I mean, i want to think someone couldn't be that...well...use your own words.
Was thinking somewhere between Kyle Orton & Chargers Drew Brees. But then he could be the next Eric Zeier, David Greene. Hard to tell sometimes with the prolific passers. Back on Schaub, just for accuracy sake I didnt mention earlier that I have 2 strikes against him. But I'll give him 5, hell David Carr got 20.
At this point, he's basically just talking out of his rear end. To be fair, Brees's numbers weren't really that impressive until last season. In fact, I think Matt has better stats when your compare their early years. Obviously, I'm not counting the seasons that Schaub was with the Falcons. In his last 22 starts, Matt Schaub is averaging around 300 passing yards a game. Schaub should end this season with 30 + touchdowns. Brees' career high in touchdowns is 34. He's only broken 30 once and this season will likely be the second time. Schaub's passing yards total for 2009 should also be higher than any season Brees has had with the exception of 2008. Heck, he's on pace for more yards than Brees this season. If only our D could have forced 32 turnovers and scored 7 touchdowns. Also, you can't discount the fact that we're at the bottom in rushing and the Saints are fifth overall. So hate on Matt Schaub all you want but it's just ridiculous jabber at this point.
I didn't say Schaub sucks, just that he is not Clutch. I guess since that is a nebulous term, and we all have our own definitions we are not going to agree. Re: Colt. Yeah, I think he is going to be a good NFL QB. I guess all of you that posted strange bits disagree, we shall recall this thread in the future, right? DD
You guys were right, Schaub SUCKS! His "inflated" numbers for playing with so many weapons are being exposed now that Grossman is back there and we can just plug anyone in our offense and they will put up the same number!!! All you Schaub haters that think he's terrible are going to get a good grip on reality this game. He made this team go and now our offense has basically turned into the University of Nebraska. The fact that a number of you thought he was the problem of this football team shows alot about your football intelligence vs your own personal biases I cant imagine how elated DD and especially Cometwins, with your boy Mr Clutch Grossman playing and Schaub is out
If there is any doubt about Schaub's abilities, that game should put it to rest. Kubiak and Brown lost this one. And Brown has lost us two games against JAX this year. Great job there buddy.
I don't blame Chris Brown in the least bit... 1. He should have never been put in that situation. It's simply a horrible play call. 2. He's not a quarterback and never has been. He can't be expected to think like one either.
The question was is Schaub CLUTCH. Not if he's good. Of course he's better than the backup. I know we remember the losses more than key plays in wins. Another question is, has ANYONE on the Texans been that clutch? Schaub Slaton Kris Brown Chris Brown Dunta O-line Andre Johnson Jacoby play calling ? All of them have cost the team games in some form or other. Brian Cushing's probably been the most clutch player, sad as it is to say. Schaub isnt on any kind of upward trajectory at all with "clutchness". He's had to be clutch in overcoming his own team's deficits first.
CLUTCH performances by Schaub 2009: Week 2 @ Titans - Lit up the Titans for 350 yards and 4 touchdowns; including digging the team out of a 21-7 deficit halfway through the second quarter & driving down the field with 3 minutes left to knock in the game winning FG Week 3 vs. Jags - 300 yards and 3 touchdowns; including a last minute game-tying drive to the goal line where Chris Brown fumbled the game away. Week 5 @ Cards - 370 yards 2 touchdowns; including resurrecting the team from a 0-21 deficit after halftime, and despite throwing a pick-6, he nutted up and led a final minute, game-tying drive to the goal line where Chris Brown once again EPIC FAILED. Week 6 @ Cinci - Almost 400 yards and 4 touchdowns; came back from down 3 at halftime to win *on the road* against the NFL's *6th* ranked defense. Week 9 @ Indy - 32 of 43 for 300 yards; despite throwing a costly late pick due to a blown blocking assignment, Matt still marched us into field goal range for the tie where another Kris Brown failed the game away. All this, by the way, on the road against the NFL's "best" team. Week 11 vs. Titans - 300 yards and 2 touchdowns; once again drove the Texans down the field in the final moments to set up a game tying field goal. ANOTHER Kris Brown epic fail. Week 13 @ Jags - 200 yards and a touchdown in about 2.5 quarters of action; despite a sprained shoulder returned to the game and played hurt the entire time, nearly pulled out the W if not for... you guessed it... ANOTHER Chris Brown epic fail. That is just this year alone. 7 bad ass, clutch performances by Schaub... CLUTCH in 2008 (considering matt was hurt half the year, 3 clutch performances isn't bad): Week 3 @ Jags - 300 yards 3 touchdowns; drove the Texans in field goal range in the final two minutes to tie the game as time expired. Never got the ball in OT. Week 6 vs. Dolphins - Matt with the game winning drive in the final two minutes capped off by a QB sneak for the win over the playoff bound Dolphins as time expired. Week 14 @ Packers - 400 yards 2 touchdowns; Matt with a drive in the final 2 minutes to set up the game winning field goal as time expired. So you know what? Screw you, Schaub haters. You guys have no idea what you are talking about. Matt is awesome, clutch, and I'm glad as hell he's a Texan.
Well said sir! Quarterback is not an issue for this team. There are probably 16-19 other positions on the field that are in bigger need of improvement.
