Matt Schaub is not clutch, not even close, not in the slightest. The guy makes crucial errors at horrible times in the game. Almost every throw over 20 yards is underthrown and if he didn't have such good receivers he would look even worse. I don't care if he can throw the ball for 400 yards against the crap teams in the league, he just flat out chokes in big games, and at the worst times. That one intereception he threw on the deep ball was 15 yards underthrown....it was horrble, almost as bad as that pick 6, then the fumble...well......sorry, I don't think he is close to top 10.... Middle of the pack, average QB.....at best. DD
Dude, give it a rest. I'm sure you think Peyton is average too cuz he threw his 10th and 11th pick today just like Schaub did. Their stats are eerily similar but the difference is that the Colts D has been stellar all season. We miss OD. Plain and simple. I wonder what the Colts would like without Clark. It is posts like this that makes everyone think that you don't know squat about football.
Fixed. I'm sure you were salivating at the mouth to post after this game but where were you after his good games? That's right..nowhere to be found. We don't have 6 losses bc of Matt Schaub. There is no doubt that he has messed up here and there but there are more glaring holes all over the field
I watch every game, but I watch it with a totally unbiased eye. I can see the good he does, but he also chokes at crucial times a LOT.... I wish he were better, I wish he could run faster than an 80 year old in a walker, I wish he had an above average NFL arm......but, he just doesn't. He is a decent QB, but nothing special. Oh, and comparing him to Manning...funny...and you called me delusional. I forget was Schaub hit on his picks like Manning was? DD
He is better than a lot of quarterbacks esp VY Right now, I would take these QB's in front of Schaub: Peyton Brady Big Ben Rivers Mcnabb Breese Rodgers Favre (short-term solution) Maybe list: Palmer, Romo I would prefer Schaub over Flacco and Ryans bc they have played worse in their second year and aren't having a more productive year than Schaub.
If Slaton gets slammed for his fumbles, then Schaub gets criticism for his INTS and fumble. He made bad plays, so they count against him. A QB can get spotted 2 turnovers in a game sometimes, but 3 is when you have to start counting them. We saw clutch play by a QB on the field today, and he plays for the Colts. That said.. Schaub is still decently clutch for a QB. Not the most high end but clutch enough. I would like some more IN-BETWEEN, so it doesnt have to come down to being clutch. Dont leave it where you have to count on another player. Here's how the clutch ratings can get scewed for QBs: - Matt Schaub to Andre Johnson in the end zone: Dropped TD pass - Vince Young to Kenny Britt in the end zone: fantastic leaping catch between 2 players for a TD Final tally: Schaub "underthrew" Johnson though he didnt. Young is clutch. What does Vince Young do to make his guys catch his throws, make field goals, not fumble at the goal line and burrow into the endzone from 2 feet out? How do these other guys get the David Tyree game saver plays but not Schaub?
^if there is ever a QB who is the biggest contradiction of your assesment on how a QB should be evaluated, it's VY. and to nobody's suprise, he's your boytoy. I use that term very loosely. Sorry DD, you will never convince me that football knowledge is your forte, or even that you have a slight concept of it. Cheers.
Fair enough, you have your opinion, I have mine, I follow pro football more for individual players now days, because my Oilers are no longer in Houston, and neither am I..... Still, I can see when a player is not Clutch and when one is......today is a great example of that. DD
