Its not that wins and losses are superficial stats...but putting it on the QB is ridiculous...when your QB puts you in a position to tie or win at the end of the game and you cant get 1 yard after 4 tries or your kicker misses back to back FGs at the end of the game, the losses arent on the QB.
wins and losses attributed to a QB.....yes, it's very superficial. do you know Peyton Manning's W/L for his career, w/o looking it up? how about rich gannons? you know you don't, because it's superficial. what is aaron brooks career W/L? you lose, career w/l is not nearly as important as you think.
Being in the minority is far from being wrong. Quoting instances in which teams intentionally diminished the role of the quarterback because they had bad quarterbacks and had winning teams doesn't mean the quarterback position, by design, isn't the most important position in football. It's totally inarguable to me for any of you to say that the quarterback can't have more impact on the outcome of a game than any other position on the field. You're simply trying to take exceptions where teams intentionally limited the impact of the quarterback which every team with a bad quarterback tries to do anyway.
No, you're only taking into account what happens at the end of the game but not what happens throughout the game. It's easy to say because a kicker missed a field goal that it's not the quarterback's fault but what about the rest of the game? If the quarterback plays well the team will win most of the time and if a quarterback plays poorly the team loses most of the time. You don't encapsulate wins and losses by the kick at the end of a game but rather the play throughout the game.
Do you watch the games? Matt has been one of the few bright spots for the texans. And yes, QB can have the biggest impact, but that doesnt mean you attribute W/Ls to a QB. Just silly analysis by you.
Matt's played well, I haven't disputed that. I just don't think he's a top 5 QB the way some of you do. If any position should have record attributed to it then it would be QB. There's a reason why average QB's don't typically win Super Bowls.
No sugarcoating for the game he had today. He wasn't clutch for sure. Played great in the first half and was the complete opposite in the second half.
