And, for the record, Robertson and others say these sorts of things whether the Republicans are in the White House or not. There were plenty of these types of things being said by these types during the Clinton administration. Blaming Bush for it is a bit silly (or even lumping Robertson's comments in with what Bush is talking about in regards to "faith-based" charities and the like).

    Jeff,
I think the decision to have or not have children is up to the couple, and I don't think that there is a right or wrong choice. I can see why people ask "why aren't you having kids?" I don't have any statistics but I would assume that most couples do have kids, so not having them is sort of uncommon. As far as people asking why you don't like kids, thats ridiculous.

I am getting married in July. My wife and I don't want to have kids for at least 4-5 years. At that point, we will make our decision. We may choose not to. Our decision to at least wait a few years is for a couple of reasons. (1) We want to be able to be married and spend our time together doing what we want to do, not just being parents. (2) We have purchased a major fixer-upper home and need to focus most of our energy on that project. I think it is more common for couples not to have children today than it used to be.

In talking of my own wedding, I often have people ask me why I am getting married so young. I will turn 22 in May and be married in July. My future wife won't be 22 until September. I'm excited and feel very secure that I am doing what is best for me. Some people do get married before they are mature enough to do so, but I don't think someone can say that nobody is ready to get married at 22. It depends on the relationship and the personalities of the people involved.

    1. The world is not overpopulated. where do you get this surf? :)

    2. Religion often gets ALOT of mileage out of
small quotes. "be Fruitful and Multiply"

A Marriage *is* between 2 people. When children
grow up and move on . . . Those 2 people
are still married. They are mutually exclusive.

    Pat Robertson is a . . . problemed individual
His interpretations are a bit. . . skewed.

Mr. Paige beat me to it. Pat Robertson doesn't care who's in office. He just likes to say stupid things. He is pretty much avoided by both parties.
