This this this to all you "Well, Cleveland sucks, he should have left." He doesn't owe them to the point where he has to stay there. He DOES owe them that he doesn't piss on them and destroy in front of everyone and is not a complete douche in the process. I can leave my company, but I will at bare minimum give notice of doing so instead of dangling oh I might no I'm really a selfish douche and have been lying to you all this time ****.
Can I just say that James is a massive b****? Is that OK? I know it makes him sound bigger, but a bigger b****. Queen James is a wanker and a goofus in an incredible NBA body. Go figure. Fate will catch up with the cat for playing the fool with the fans and the league. Wait and see.
Yes, it was arranged that he became a Cavalier through the draft. Would he have rather gone somewhere else? Maybe, or maybe he wanted to remain in Ohio. He seemed to have loyalty to Ohio and especially Akron, so many it was his dream to bring the championship to Cleveland. Regardless whether arranged or not, he claims that loyalty and respect are cornerstones of LeBron James. I recall him saying last night, "But it was a tough decision, because I know how loyal I am." Part of loyalty is respect for the entity your loyal to. And James certainly wasn't respectful. tm
Ron Artest did not disrespect the Rockets the way LeBron James did. Houston has had its success and more so, he was not home-grown. LeBron was the "chosen one" because he was the one to help Cleveland become what it hasn't succeeded to be. I disagree that it's a double standard. tm
Well, count me as someone who doesn't think the Cleveland organization doesn't deserve any respect. Besides the atrocious management and historically terrible nature of the team...the Cavs already let Lebron walk all over them. That Adrian Woj article made an excellent point. The Cavs never demanded respect or exercised authority...as someone who was handed the keys to the kingdom as a child, why would he suddenly respect their lack of a backbone? To further the girlfriend analogy, I'll use an actual example from my past. I had an ex who I could pretty much get away with whatever I wanted. I could say or do what I felt like, and I could always get away with it. Everything was easy...and I resented her for it. I was "above" her and I childishly used it to my own advantage...and eventually I had to move on because I couldn't be with someone I didn't respect. They had it coming. It's a tough break for their fans but like I said before, I think they were fortunate to have lucked into him in the first place.
Are you saying that had Lebron left the way Bosh did, he wouldn’t be hated as much as he is now in Cleveland? Maybe you should check the reactions in Toronto. Lebron played his heart out for the Cavs. The management was incompetent and could not assemble a championship caliber team. Lebron gave them 7 years and they took it for granted.
Sure it's ok for teams to get talent via trades and drafts. It's all a game. And like any game, the smart players use their talents and a little bit of luck and play to win. The challenge is do you have a little more smarts or luck to beat them. That's what makes the game fun. These 3 amigos took the easy way out - no question about it. And now they will go around and bully the other teams out of their lunch money until they get bored and decide it's time to retire with all their tainted trophies. And while I don't blame Lebron for leaving, I just think he could have shown more class by sitting down with the his home team and telling them his intensions and why. Then I think he could have still chosen a team that will win without creating a super team. Sure playing with your friends is fun but so is beating your friends. And no you don't get more points for chosing this route but I think you get more respect. My question is since they are such good friends will the take turns getting the Finals MVP trouphy so that no one feels left out?
Nope, I literally spoon fed you the reasons why it's considered a pansy move and you chose not to comprehend it so you could have something to argue over (ie, "Wade is just as much of a b**** as LeBron"). That's just how you are when it comes to debates outside of statistics, and why I told you to stay out of a very raw basketball thread where stats and generic examples have no pertinence. Who needs to resign Luis Scola when you have Chuck Hayes, the league's saviour. I'll copy and paste the post for the benefit of this thread: Kobe and Shaq grew into their situation with each other (Shaq leaving for a big market like LA was understandable, Kobe was an 18 year old high schooler at the time). The showtime Lakers grew into their situation with each other (Jabbar was with the Lakers long before Magic was drafted). Pippen and Jordan were both guys drafted by the Bulls, and they demanded players be brought in to help them. To be the best player in the league and make a charade out of leaving your team to play with the 2nd best player in the league, when you're both entering your primes, is not what the game is about. Yup. This article sums up why a lot of NBA fans aren't happy with the move: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/20...lebron.event/index.html?eref=sihp&xid=shareFB
And I'm saying there is no way for anyone to conclude that he is taking the easier route, when Jordan, Magic, kareem, Bird, Kobe and Shaq all won titles with guys better than Wade or Bosh. Who cares that they didn't choose to be paired together...they damn sure weren't complaining about it. It's extra silly considering half of those guys never had a choice (Duncan really is the only one, him and Shaq).
I was under the impression that Lebron was the unofficial GM of the Cavs and was consulted on all personnel decisions. Is this incorrect?
For the people who think LeBron doesn't care about his legacy and his ego isn't as big as "we" want it to be, you're missing the main point. He has the talent and genetics of spiderman, whether he likes it or not. He's chosen to capitalize on this by playing in the NBA. And with great power, comes great responsibility. Playing with Wade is the only other scenario that lets him cop out of this responsibility.
i think its hilarious some of the comments about the outrage in cleveland. just like we knew lebron was probably leaving, we all knew cleveland would be devastated and pissed about it. shouldnt be surprised they're pissed, it really is 1a. art modell 1b. lebron james. cleveland might suck at sports, but they are true fans and follow their teams passionately. i'm honestly shocked there isnt rioting, i'm sure all the witness signs and such like that are being taken down right now. i will say the letter by the cavs owner wasnt what i was expecting, but then again i'm not totally surprised. he had to do something to show the fans they're just as upset/angry with lebron leaving. it was some venting, but more of a rallying type call. this is going to sting for a very long time, and clearly will never be forgotten.
Can't be angry at Lebron. Though I might want to try and win myself a championship, I wouldn't say no if I could play everyday with the USA Dreamteam. Lets not fool ourselves, the Heat are basically the kind of team that everyone tries to build on the Association Mode in NBA 2K. I think Lebron, Wade and Bosh just built there own dreamteam, can't hate on that. Most people who are hating right now are either angry (Cavs-Ny-Nj-etc fans) or just jealous.
are we all going to be witnesses to dramatic changes to how free agency and mid-level exceptions work after a lockout, in part as a result of all this?
