Oh I comprehend quite well because I know MadMax was using a figure of speech referencing Lebron's demeanor suspiciously reeking of quit and not using a literal interpretation.
No problem begging management for help, but there is a problem with finding help on your own as a free agent. LOL...really now.
yes...running out on your team...particularly the only one you've ever played for which happens to be situated in your home....is different than demanding they put some pieces around you. i see that as entirely different.
You do realize Kobe demanded to be traded, right? Running out on your team is an option that players have when they are free agents. Kinda like a team has the option to trade them.
Sure the best story would have been to stay home and win a ring there - but let's be realistic here...cleveland made zero moves this summer and has zero assets/flexibility for roster upgrades. Does he really want to be thirty-some yrs old, miserable and ringless just to avoid being hated in his hometown? And this burning his jerseys thing is ridiculous. He put the Cavs on the map and made them matter - gave them his all for 7 years, they just didn't have the necessary talent around him to win. This move shows how desperate he is to win. He didn't run for office there or ask to be some kind of savior - unfair of the fans to put that kind of thing on a 25 yr old basketball player. He doesn't owe them anything more...at the end of the day, you do what makes you happy.
I REALLY dont see why people have a problem with this!! My only issue with LeBron is that he didnt come to Houston!! This is no different than win KG went to Boston!!
I'm sorry, how exactly did he quit the series, besides his awful nonaggresive play during game 5? Again, that was because of Lebron... The notion that Cleveland mistreated him is perhaps a joke since i havent heard of it, but the notion that his supporting cast minus Lebron replaced with kobe/wade or anyone else playing today would be a title contender or lead the league in wins IS A JOKE. Kobe demanded to his GM to be TRADED not once, or twice BUT THREEE TIMES. He stuck around not because he wanted to, BUT BECAUSE HE HAD TO. He was under contract, Buss refused to trade him to the Bulls. Does this affect kobe's legacy? WIll Kobe's legacy be greater than Lebron? Personally i don't know and dont really care all that much about it, since i find it kind of premature to really know what their legacy will ultimately be. This could very well be true... but i think its too early to tell, lets atleast wait till he wins atleast 1 or 2 rings before we even think of comparing their greatness. Whatever results from this decision, if Lebron's motivation is simply to WIN and personal happiness, I can respect that. Would I rather him be in NY or Chicago, definitely, but I'll also have to admire Lebron sacrificing, more money, presumably the chance for greater individual glory and legacy to PURSUE what he deems as the BEST SITUATION for him to WIN and be Happy. If Lebron really believes the object of the game as one crazy nfl coached said... WE PLAY TO WIN THE GAME... then i guess i can respect his decision. I guess we just disagree on the definition of disappearing then... because according to ur definition, every series that magic, larry, mj, hakeem, kareem, West, roberston, Duncan, shaq, (and every other great all time playrer in the history of the sport) didnt win and didnt play exceptional or great, but rather just good or average, they disappeared in. In other words every non great performance is a disappearance... boy that sure covers alot of them.
The whole show around LBJ's "decision" leaves bad taste in my mouth. But I can't really blame him. Loyalty doesn't mean much nowadays. We can't ask players to be unselfish, and put team first or put fans first, while we switching jobs for a better title, or simply 10 grand, and just giving 2 weeks of notice. On the other hand, teams trade players without consulting them, and fans shouting on message boards almost everyday to get rid of this or that player for another player. Nobody really questions loyalty from fans and owners, why are we DEMANDING star players to do something we can't do or don't want to do? Just because that's what I want? It's supposed to be business, both ways. If you are looking for role models in professional sport, you are looking at the wrong place. If LBJ could win a few rings in Cleveland, his legacy would be at another level. But he just felt he couldn't do that, so he made the decision to move on for better opportunities. If he wins with Wade and Bosh, his legacy in NBA history will still be better than Malone's loyalty with Jazz. This is a result-oriented age. People don't care about process any more. I didn't respect him more than a great basketball player before today, and I won't respect him less than a great player after today either.
Completely agree. He gave Cleveland his all for 7 years - put them on the map and made a lot of people there a whole ton of money. He doesn't owe them anything more. The Cavs couldn't surround him with the necessary talent so he goes to the best opportunity to win - at the end of the day, you choose what makes you happy and winning championships is what makes lebron happy.
Its good that you comprehended MadMax's post while responding to my post and missing my point entirely.
That conversation with garnett probably stuck with him. Garnett told him he stayed 4yrs too long in minny. When garnett couldve moved or taken the tim duncan deal, he locked in and couldn't get the proper help until later. When you play in those cold weather smaller cities, you're margin for error is really small. You have to get every draft and every free agent right. Plus you need a star or 2 to come via the draft.
Lebron is a little bit of a panzy for this, taking the easy way out, his legacy is OVER. Even if he wins the rings. For pure winning reasons, its great. But as a man and individual ball player, ... Jordan couldve taken the easy way out and joined the Pistons, but he stuck with it and beat them instead. Thats why hes a legend. Still a Bron fan, but not with AS much respect
Man it would be sweet if the crowd started chanting "YOU SOLD OUT!" Brock Lesnar style everytime Lebron is at the FT line when the Heat visits the Cavs.
I do know that MadMax has made several people in this thread HIS little b****. Think I'll jump in and agree with everything he says; sort of be the Lebron to his Wade.
