This is garbage. The Yankees of the NBA...

Lebron should have stayed with the Cavs and proved that he could be the toughest teams in the NBA as Jordan did. Lebron ruined his Legacy in the NBA. He will never be "the guy"

LBJ can go to NYK, to team with a legitimate allstar in AS. Or Bulls, a good all round team. But with Heat, he's more comparable to Paul Pierce than Kobe.

remember how cool it was seeing Jordan have to overcome the Celtics...and then the Pistons...and then the Knicks?? that was compelling. and he had crap around him, too (remember his own quotes in Jordan Rules). mother falcon Luc Longley in the starting lineup. crying huge tears holding the Larry O'Brien Trophy in the locker room.

how about Hakeem...years and year of crap after the 86 Finals appearance. talks of a trade to (ahem) Miami. discontent with the status quo. and then....that moment right after they won the championship where he sat back and just soaked it all in.

I'm sorry but you're the perfect example of someone who seem unable to comprehend or construe two separate, different, yet unopposing opinions. My point to Max was, regardless of how u view Lebron, to call his performance against the Celtics, a disappearance is ridiculous. Does that mean that his demeanor or his level of play was as great as it ever was??? NO! Rather it means you could characterize his play during the series anywhere from good to average. Its possible for Jackson to have the opinion that his demeanor was different and his play different, but it's highly improbable that you'll find Jackson or anyone else arguing that, Lebron's play was so awful he basically had no impact and dissapeared in that series...

Ur right!! But for the past 7 years LeBron was trying to win rings by himself!!

Now he has the opportunity to get rings the same way all the other legends have done it! And that is doing it with at least one more superstar along side!

LeBron will still be the best player in the game today! RIGHT IT DOWN!!!

Not exactly, let's assume LeBron win 10 there, he's gonna be one less than Russell. And Russel is nowhere close to GOAT.

when a guy who gets labelled as the King has a good to average performance in a playoff series...that's called disappearing.

he's the man...the King....the HOF'er...whose compared to the greatest who've ever played this game....those guys don't go "good to average" in the playoffs. "good to average" is disappearing when you're of that ilk.

But you're assuming that's the only way to get to GOAT. Shaq is mentioned in that mix and he wanders from team to team every few years. Maybe instead of trying to win a few rings and be in the mix of that discussion, he wants to create terms for a whole new discussion? What if he is the best player on the best team ever? What if they win 5 consecutive rings and win 75 games a year or something ridiculous? Not saying this will happen, but if it did, then instead of comparing rings and MVPs and saying "I did the same thing Jordan did", he can argue "I did something no one else has ever done". There are more ways to be in the GOAT discussion than just doing it the same way as other players.

Basically Lebron's personal pride of building up Cleveland on his own was let go for the outside pressure of him needing rings so he can stick his chin higher in social circles.

In essence, the outside world dictated where LBJ went, as much as LBJ thinks his decision was entirely up to him.

when you ask the question, "who's the greatest of all time?" the conversation generally centers around, "who won more rings being THE MAN on his team?"

russel's era is so hard to even compare to the current NBA

playoff basketball and regular season basketball are different stories bro

never said he was mistreated but to say kobe is so great when he won 3 rings with the most dominant force of this era and then another 2 with the one of the top 5 big men in the game is the GOAT or whatever your trying to get at is ridiculous

you can compare lebrons squad this year to the years kobe missed and lost in the first round of the playoffs. odom>jamison shaq/big z=bynum/mihm turiaf=side show bob aaron mckie, vujacic, jim jackson<mo williams, west,

I thought your whole beef with LeBron was he dominated the ball too much, whereas Kobe knows how to play within a team concept.

So, maybe we could say that with the Heat, LeBron is more comparable to Kobe than LeBron-in-Cleveland. :)

typically...when you start talking about GOAT...invariably someone will say, "yeah..but he had those guys on his team...they were awesome."

that point is soooooooo apparent already for LeBron, and they haven't played a minute together yet.

you may be entirely right...maybe he completely reinvents the game and how we define GOAT.

call me skeptical. i don't see it. i think he chickened out. and i think he played the punk doing this in the manner in which he did it given his connection to Cleveland and their connection to him.

    what? :)
no...hakeem is absolutely in the conversation for me. i'm not saying that raw number of rings tells the entire story.

So are Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain, Cylde Drexler, Moses Malone, Cylde Frazier and Earl Monroe all guys that shouldn't be compared to greatness either?

Kobe came onto a team with Shaq, and after he left he cried and demanded a trade until they were gifted Gasol. Anyone you want to name prior to Shaq (i.e. prior to real free agency) really couldn't leave their teams.
