Rockets should have locked him up for longer because now some stupid team will offer him a 11mill contract or more, imo he's putting up consistent 20 point games off the bench.

it doesnt make moneyball sense to trade him. even with his raise. he is still a bargain.

Two months ago I believed he was the most likely candidate to head out. I feel very different now. Not just because he's better than I appreciated, so, too, is Scola, but he brings less quantifiable assets to the floor.

Landry stays. Really, where do you find Bosh an upgrade - at max $s - assuming, of course, you KNOW he re-signs this summer?

The most likely desirable gone if it takes it to get 'the' McGrady deal IMHO is Budinger. And, for him, I'd shed a tear...

You guys are still talking about trades, lol?

We're taking this team to the championships. T-Mac could have easily scored 40 or 50 last night. Wait till he's playing full games next to Luis, Landry, AB, C-Bud. This team can beat anyone.

This is exactly what I was thinking last night, Landry has become invaluable but I will say he has also become thier biggest asset besides TMAC and maybe more. We know Morey has set this team up as assets and he has now collected quite a collection along with the mentality he has allows mentioned that we need 2 stars to succeed long term.

Side note - This is not a lets trade Landry thread it is more of a what do Morey and his brass think of him, about him and want to utilize him as thread, just to clarify.

Why are so many of you raving about bosh? He's a weak player and overrated. I'd be upset if we got him if we had to give landry.

Our team is playing really good right now and if we have to give to much to get, not worth it.

It's ridiculous, how people think trades will happen when the team is only getting better.

I blame it on the video games and fantasy leagues. People don't understand that trades don't just happen on paper and based on stats.

This is Team Synergy. Fun, exciting. Ours. But, this year's roster is not built to necessarily get to the play-offs, and yet they look May-bound, nor is this team built to get deep in any play-off run.

This team also possesess the proverbial 500-lb gorilla and that is why trade talk is prevalent.

This actually raises an interesting question, on which I only briefly touched in my "free agency/salary cap situation" and on which I planned to start a new thread at the end of this season:

Should Daryl Morey DECLINE the $3M team option on Landry this summer?

If the Rockets pick up the option, they'll get Landry's superb production at a bargain basement price for 2010-11. However, the following summer, he'll hit the market as an unrestricted free agent and will be looking to cash in, big time.

BUT . . . if the Rockets decline Landry's option, it will make Landry a free agent with only three seasons of NBA experience . . . which will make him a RESTRICTED free agent. The Rockets would be able to match all offers for him, and Morey will undoubtedly make it known to the entire league that he will match, thereby chilling the bidding for him . . . again. The end result could be a long-term contract for Landry at an overall lower salary than he could have otherwise gotten had he played for $3M and then hit unrestricted free agency.

That being said, with Landry's stellar play this season, I think it is too big a risk to let him even hit restricted free agency, since it is likely that some team with poor management will overpay him and sign him to an offer sheet that Morey and Les just don't think is worth matching.

Bottom line: At this point (who knew that Landry would be averaging 18 ppg this season?), I just don't see any way that Landry isn't playing under that team option next season.

you probably are, Bosh is a beast, i dont know if you caught the game he had against us but we couldn't stop him. On the other hand though i do agree that he wouldn't be much of an upgrade if we let scola or landr go.
Bottom line, we are not going to trade any player guys, there will be calls to get our players, but More is no fool, unless he gets calls about B cook, joey dorsey, JT=expendible.. any other player i dont see being traded. Back to Landry, i say we pick up option and make him fall in love with Houston even more that he wouldn't want to leave, that way when he does become unrestricted, he would want to come back, plus we get to see what he develops into in another year with yao back. so definitley pick up option on him.

Bosh is a FANTASTIC player, if you have a chance to get him, you go for it.

Makes no sense to decline. Landry would only sign a 1 year contract if he is being low balled so why bother. It could only cause hurt feelings. Just extend his contract, they will have Bird rights and be able to outbid any other team for him when he is a free agent in a couple of years.

While that makes great business sense, its kinda jerk to screw over Landry, not once, but twice. However there is so much talent available and so little money that it would be dumb to not do it.

Landry is pretty close to untoucable atm. Maybe later on when his due a new contract and we know we wont be able to match some offers, then ye use him as a 'trade bait.' As of right now though, our best 'trade bait' is Brooks, Budinger and maybe Battier (however with these young guys i think Battier is untouchable) And Dont underestimate the trade value Chase has right now either. Would hurt to see any of the 4 leave though...

Landry is our best player, we would trade him only for an allstar. Wow what a draft pick....

He is great, but he isn't the guy who will bring you to the promised land. He's a very very good 2nd option IMO.
