I believe Lowry is better starter than Brooks, who is better PnR player and defender in both sides. If he was on count, rockests may not have lost to bulls.
I think Arron plays much more better than he, at least these games, but I also see Kyle's progress, he needs some time to be up on our tactics and know more about his new teammates.
I think you said it best. He is new to the system and he is still a young player and does need to learn how to defend without fouling, but he is still a solid defender, and I think that if he was to start that would be putting way too much pressure on him.
I'm starting to wonder if anyone that plays the PG position on a Yao-based team is doomed to fail in the eyes of the fans.
anyone else feel brooks is getting a little worried about lowry outplaying him? he's been attacking the rim more instead of settling for 3's.
yes. AB is an offensive player. he's a perfect energizer bunny off the bench. lowry plays better defense and has a pass-first mentality that fits the starting lineup well.
It is not always great. Sometimes I do belive that he doesn't take enough shots. WHen he comes off the screen and has an open 18 footer - TAKE IT, don't pass. Also, when he drives to the rim he usually passes out good looks around the basket. I do think he can be more selfish at times. But you are pretty right overall. He is making plays and his aggressiveness is creating lots of open 3s and dunks.
something always good happens whenever lowry drives. he either gets fouled, makes a nice pass, or finishes with contact. he kind of reminds me of steve francis in his hey day except he's got a brain. i think yao sees some of it too.
how will d-will defend brooks and lowry? we plays 40-42 minutes a game. can you imagine him having to chase them around the whole game. i think opposing teams should worry more than us. the rockets have great help defense to help aaron and kyle.
cmon be serious. while brooks and lowry are good, they aren't as offensively talented as a deron williams or tony parker.
Yes he is. Lowry is def a better point guard than Brooks. Brooks is a 6th man player who needs to bring energy and points off the bench. Is Brooks a great player? No doubt, however. The Rockets already have 3 scorers in the starting lineup Luis Scola, Ron Artest and Yao Ming. Why do the Rockets need another? Lowry should start, he gets the ball to Yao quit well, gets the ball to Scola and Artest quite well as well. He drives the lane in almost every possession, he knows how to run the pick n roll. He knows how to drive and dish as well which is why I would take Lowry over Brooks. If Brooks ever drives the lane, 95% chance of the time he'll just try to score himself. Lowry? That's the same case, Sometimes he'll finish sometimes he'll pass it to the open guy. The main reason is Lowry needs know how to make the correct play, while Brooks needs more time to learn that.
Have you seen his stats. .395 and .350 from long range. Rafer was shooting just as well, he better start putting the ball in the hole at a better clip or he won't be starting much longer.
After watching tonights game Kyle Lowry is definetely starting material over aaron brooks Signed, Jeffvangundy
Did Brooks even play a minute in the 4th quarter? That one play where D-Will hits a wide open three because Brooks was whining to the refs means a lot now considering how the game came down to the last few possessions. Just awful. Sure we can win some games when he starts, but we're a better team when Lowry is running the team. He's better defensively and more of an actual PG. The only reason people even call Brooks a PG is because of his size.
I would start Lowry. I remember saying this a while back, but Brooks is better off the bench. He brings more energy and just is a better overall player from the bench. This isn't a knock on the little guy. He is a good player, but I think Lowry has proven to be a much better point guard since he got here than Aaron. Plus he plays great defense. Regardless, I love our point guards just have them in the wrong roles. Lowry just needs to learn how not to foul as much so we can give him more minutes. I'm sure Rick will see this eventually.
