Bad int. inside the red zone, but that guy should have been caught. Where were the speedsters chasing him down? A full hundred yard dash - that guy was about to fall over by the time he reached the goal line.
Yeah, and Warner himself was the one that epic fail'd on that one, too. He shoulda read Ben's "how to make a game saving tackle" handbook... And then fumbling the game away on the last play of the game...
Troll accuser is fail. I've been in this thread since the get-go being a dissenting vote. I do not believe Warner is a HOFer. Does that make me a troll? He did not help his case in this superbowl, IMO. (I posted that picture, and mentioned BR's tackle, to illustrate how poorly Warner responded to that INT... he didn't even try to tackle the dude)
The whole complexion of the game would have obviously changed and no one knows what would have happened. It is safe to say that at least one of the 2 TDs they scored in the second have were by-products of their being behind (i.e. running the no-huddle). It certainly cost them a better chance to win the game, but to say that cost them the game is a stretch.
A stretch? Really? A 14 point play didn't have a *major* impact on the outcome of the game where the score was a 4 point difference? Sure stuff happens differently, but it was the most significant play in the game. Probably the most significant play in Superbowl history.
Your arguments have been weak so you're just trolling now. 377/ 3 TDs/ 1 int. vs. the best defense in the league in the Superbowl to go with his previous ring and two league MVPs is plenty.
I think he is close, but he needs more yards, and TDs over his career to get in....one more good year......and I think it solidifies his case. DD
Dude, take your troll blasting crap elsewhere. You're the troll. There. See? I said it. Now you're the troll. No take backs! Anyway... who thinks Warner is coming back next year? I do.
[DD] ^ His numbers are very close already - plus his personal story helps him people who disagree are kidding themselves. Another season in Arizona with similar numbers and he is in Canton.
Yes...really. It had a major impact on the game, but we don't know how the second half would have played out with a 14-10 score as opposed to 7-17. And, it would have "only" been a 4 point lead (certainly better than a 10 point deficit), but no where near a sure victory.
Its easy to say the game would have ended up 99-14 PIT after the half anyway... but thats all conjecture... what we do know is that it was a 14 point swing in one play. And Pitts offense isn't exactly the strength of their team. I'm not sure many people wouldn't pick that play if they had to pick the "game changer".
I say no. I think he is a byproduct of his receivers and the systems that he plays in. Yes, you can say that about some HOF players that always had help (i.e. Aikman), but you don't have proof like you do for Warner. I know Elway can be a great QB without a lot of help. The same goes for Moon, Elway and Montana (who still showed he had it as an old dude in KC). I can't say that for Warner. His WR's in St. Louis were insane (and the RB). His WR's in Arizona have been insane. There were many instances, including last night's game, where his WR's were making the plays for him...especially Fitzgerald. One may look at his statline and say "look, he threw 3 TD's". Or one may look at the game and say "the first one was a dangerous pass that the WR made a great play on, the 2nd one was a jumpball where the WR made the play, and the 3rd one was blown coverage where the WR made the play". I clearly think he is a good QB, but his help makes him great IMO. When he went to a place that didn't have that outstanding help, he sucked. Edit: And I do think Warner will eventually make the HOF. But if he does then so should T.Davis. And yes, his turnovers cost his team the game IMO. 4 point game and you give up a pick 6 to close a half...and go from at least a tie to being down by 10? If that were any other QB (i.e. VY) y'all would be roasting him. And the Cards were getting the ball back to start the 2nd half. And he fumbled to close it out....
