I could see it going either way. I would prob vote him in but it's not a home run. He might be one of those guys that makes the Hall of Fame look like the hall of fame. Great but not great enough to make it.
I dont think Warner should retire after winning a Super Bowl. Like any athlete Warner should play until no one wants him anymore or until he sucks bad, like he did '02 thru 07' A Super Bowl win and/or another solid 16 game season gets him in, maybe not 1st ballot but at least in.
Cris Freakin' Carter didn't make it 1st ballot, I don't think Warner does either. He will get in, though.
If not 1st ballot, certainly the 2nd time around. I thought he was even before this season started, too. Hard not to root for the guy.
I guess I have to say he's in. Not only did he win the NFC west, he guided them to the freaking Super Bowl.
Is this a joke? Carter never made it to the Super Bowl. Warner has made it 3 times, winning once along with a Super Bowl MVP and 2 NFL MVP awards. He just might had more to that part of his resume in 2 weeks. Warner's stats are not like the elite quarterbacks in the hall but I think you have to look at stats in the context of when he started his career.
I think it depends, longevity should matter. This isn't a robert horry situation, he was trigger man on great offenses. But at the same time, his overall stats aren't great, the qb position is one of stats and winning. he definitely deserves credit on winning. and his overall stats aren't great because he started late, they aren't great because he's had some terrible years in between his great years in St Louis and now. I wouldn't have a problem either way, I just don't think its the automatic people say it is.
Yup. The Steelers were the #1 D in the league and he threw for almost 400 on them. Warner played like a champ.
How many good seasons does a QB need to get to the HOF? Warner has only had 4-5 good seasons and a bunch of average to terrible seasons. Those good seasons were great, but even this year he only ended up 12-8. Terrell Davis HOF as well? (Not sure where I read/heard someone bring him up to refute Warner as a HOFer.)
Terrell Davis is a great comparison. Very quality career, but shorter than many of the other greats. Coming into this season, and throughout this season, I never considered Warner HOF material. However, in thinking about Warner having 3 Super Bowl appearances now, including one ring and one SB MVP, I've changed by tune. The MVP awards are icing on the cake.
I may be in the minority, but I think Terrell Davis is a Hall-of-Famer. That guy was a superstar for 4 years, and a winner.
Yeah, because no other QB in the history of the game has thrown an interception. This Super Bowl only further cements his case... what a great player. He's a first ballot, without a doubt.
Absolutely after his performance last night: 377/3 TD/ 1 int. -- the fumble doesn't count arm moving forward. Warner can't play defense.
