Or just give him a little time to shake off the rust. He's in the prime of his career and had surgery on his non-shooting wrist. There really is no reason to believe he won't return to his typical shooting percentages.
LOL! I guess you haven't seen Martin much. Lazy eye??? Doesn't show emotion? I think you have the wrong guy.
Actually, his first 5 games he averaged 30.6 points. One game he scored 48, the game where he broke his wrist. The game after he broke his wrist he scored 29. After he came back, he was reluctant to be very aggressive because the youngsters who'd played while he was out resented having their playing time taken away. Martin - always a team guy - deferred to them too much. His points per game dropped to 16.6, but his shots per game also took a big dip. I think Adelman will insist that he step up more, when he feels comfortable, and will be more aggressive.
Yao - Martin will be nothing like Yao - McGrady. Martin's game isn't anything like McGrady's. Martin is great a moving without the ball. I can see them working together very well. I'd like to see them play off each other a lot of the time, pick-and-roll, give-and-go, back-cuts, pass out of the double to the open shooter... I can't wait till Yao comes back.
It's going to be Bosh/Yao we're talking about, with third option Martin. Anything less than and we're first/second round fodder. People like to talk a lot of crap about McGrady/Yao, but they were very potent once upon a time. Martin is nowhere near the player McGrady was from 04-07. No.Where.Near. It's going to be Yao and the rest of the guys unless they get another star. Martin is not a star.
Star - schmar... McGrady is a star because he was built up the the East Coast media and he gets all-star votes because he played with Yao. And he's a pretty good scorer although inconsistent like all scorers and ... so on. Martin played for a team most of the media ignores, and still was the main player opposing teams targeted in their game plans. Those game plans didn't stop him from being one of the most efficient scorers in the league. But I honestly don't care. McGrady is gone. What I'm talking about is how a fast, quick, guard who can drive and shoot plays with a big man who can pass or drive himself. The guard has to be willing to pass as well, and move without the ball. That describes Martin. That's why I'm excited about seeing them play together. And Bosh? Last time I looked at the roster, Bosh wasn't on it.
Well neither guy has the Ron Artest personality going on. But I've always thought Mac's game was more fierce and tough in his Orlando days. Martin to me has always been about finesse.
Not having the Artest personality is a good thing, right? I can't see Martin running into the stands pounding on a fan.
No. Martin likes to get rough. Give him time. He just got here and you are already questioning him? Come on...
HELL NO! Yeah Getting to the line better than anyone int the league for the last 3 or whatever years. Yeah that's soft.
Not sure if he can actually pass. during the previous years for very high his usage rate he had very few assists. definitely can shoot and drive though. Am a fan.
