Yes. Because you can't possibly assemble a championship quality team with players who used to be on bad teams.

    Signed,
Chauncey Billups, Ben Wallace, and Richard Hamilton

dare I ask what your opinion is on what we should have done instead?

and just to add to meh's list: gasol, garnett, allen, whichever way you wanna view o'neal with kobe/wade or the other way around, any way you slice it none of these stars could do it alone....you may not want to believe that yao + martin is easily one of the top duos in the league, but like you said the numbers don't lie and when I look at their numbers I like what I see...when you add the fact that in addition to our top duo we have a two- headed pg situation that rivals most teams, 2 more than average defensive wings with 3 pt range(despite what we have seen from ariza so far I am a believer that when confined to his roll ariza will be money for us), an above average pf, chuck f'n hayes and budinger....really as I see it going down the line we have a great offensive player and a great defensive player at every position....I honestly don't see how this group can't at the very least have you hopeful for a deeper playoff run....plain and simple this roster is better than the one that took LA to 7 last season and I'm ready to see it in action next season

Yes, but still. Yao Ming is better than Rik Smits.

Simple. Stay pat til next season. Cause the team we had with Landry prove it could win at the beginning of the season, but they lost some gas at the end of Landry's run here. What Morey should of done was stay pat, get a late lottery pick, resign Scola and Lowry. Then sign Manu who is a proven championship piece to a 3 year for the full MLE. I know Manu is getting up there in age, but so is Scola Yao and Battier. Then you sign Brad Miller to the Bi exception cause he's been in Rick's systemand would be a great back up to Yao. If Morey had gone this route, boom, we be in full contender mode for next season.

You really think that brad miller and ginobili will sign for that little?

Plus, Ginobili isn't consistant enough and doesnt show up every game.

And plus, Kmart + whatever we get from trading our picks is going to be better than Manu + Miller, no doubt.

Uh.......no. I hope you're not serious about getting manu and brad miller. Both are near the end of their carreer, especially miller who has had to answer questions about retirement recently.

If this was three or four years ago, I would pull the trigger.

Landry at best is a 20/10 guy, and can be replaced through the draft. We have 0 wing scorers (except Bud, who will always be a role player).

I actually think Martin is very good. The guy can score and get to the line at a very high rate. what's good about Martin getting so much to the line is that he puts the other team on the penalty very quickly and gets the other team's best defender in foul trouble. I also think that in spite of Martin not being a great defender He does has very quick hands and he steals lots of balls and gets his hands in there; the guy is very smart at anticipating passes which reminds me of Clyde Drexler a very good player stealing and anticipating but not a Great defender. What I want Martin to do more of is to go to the hoop strong he's 6'7" and he needs to Dunk that basketball to pump-up the often quite home crowd; the rowdies are great but it's only 50+ of them and the rockets need support from all of their 10K fans that show up for each home game.

you do know yao and scola aren't even 30 yet, right?

i wouldn't mind manu as a bobby sura type player, but the bottom line is the guy is gonna be 33 and he depends heavily on his quickness and athleticism. further, he won't stop playing for his national team. his shooting peaked 2 years ago and his isn't someone you can really depend on to be 100% healthy or be anything more than a 25 mpg guy. that being said i would not mind having him on the rockets.

and seriously brad miller?? the guy is semi-retired and his shooting and his per 36 numbers have all dropped off significantly this season. i guess he is better than what we have (hat isn't saying much) but i can't believe you are seriously suggesting him as a championship level player at this point.

next year will be the 2010-11 season not the 2006-07 season.

Don't let facts get in the way of anything, Slack. The Kings were 13-18 while Martin was out. 3-10 on the road and 10-8 at home. The wins at home included stirring victories over the Warriors, the Knicks, the Nets, the Timberwolves, the Pacers, and the Wizards, who have a combined record of 98-254. Indeed, the Kings were tearing up the league while Kevin was out. Taking names and kickin' ass. Destroying the opposition, sending those strong teams fleeing with their tails between their legs. Making their mothers weep.

Clearly, Kevin Martin being out was the best thing that ever happened to them. Just ask the fans of the Kings.

Deke had to answer retirement questions the last 10 years he played. Now Miller isn't the shot blocker/defender that Deke was, but he is way more agile, would backup the 5/4 spots, has played for Adelman & is familiar with the system. I would love to have Miller with the Rockets.

    Or:
You could trade TMac to the Knicks, get a 1st & swap 1sts, get 3 bigs(tall & lengthy compaired to what we had), get a higher % wing from the Kings(because this draft is big loaded & slim on wings worth a hoot). That way we could use the last 24 games of this season as a training camp for next season & only have to work Yao into the game plan next training camp. We throw a scoring wing into our rotation this year. The defenses had figured out our current rotation & will have to redesign for our wing player. You could still sign Miller as you suggested, which I'm all for.
