Someone has a very short memory. The previous regime was fired after two consecutive 6-4 starts. 2000-2001: 5-5 through ten games 2001-2002: 6-4 through ten games 2002-2003: 6-4 through ten games == 2003-2004: 7-3 through ten games 2004-2005: 4-6 through ten games 2005-2006: 3-7 through ten games 2006-2007: 6-4 through ten games.
The previous regime was not fired after 10 games, nor was it fired because of the first 10 games of the season. If the previous regime actually won 60% of all of its games like they did the first 10, they'd probably not be fired then. The previous regime was fired for year after years of lotto ball.
There are quite a few vocal anti-van gundy posters who are Chinese on this board - I know because I recognize them from other forums on this BBS. I was just surprised that so many Chinese Rockets fans ON THIS BOARD hate JVG so passionately - and I asked why. I'm not back-peddling, and I don't think I said anything wrong. That's it. Now if you want to support those guys and call for banning me - go right ahead, maybe you should contribute though before you talk about who and who is not to be banned.
No one said they were. It *is* a fact that a coach with two championship rings was fired after a season that started 6-4. This start can at best be considered a neutral for the future prospects of a head coach with zero championship rings and without a contract for next season.

He did not quit. He was forced out. You missed his point btw. Just because Rockets have started 6-4, it does not mean all is well. By this season's end, things might still not improve much.

Didn't say he was. However, your statement that the Rockets had not started this well "in a decade" is erroneous. Perhaps you should've said fans of Mr. Van Gundy should be satisfied with this start, as he has only been able to equal or better it once in his Rockets career.

I am talking about you. Specifically: "Why can't you be happy you have a winning team out of the gates for the first time in what - 10 years?" Utter nonsense. Mister Van Gundy may have had the Rockets out to poor starts the last few seasons, but 6-4 (or better) has happened several times "in (the most recent) 10 years," and was downright common before the current regime.
Haven't read the entire thread but I'm sure Phillips name came up early. I hate to say it but this teams is looking more like a team Phillip might coach if VG faulters this season. 2 superstars, big gaurds, Jump shooting PF. Definetly Triangle offense personel.
how about stan Van gandy? can JVG just get his brother here to help out? i meant stan was a guy full of energy(u can tell from his hair compare to his brother's), i remember the rookie year of Dwade with odom and butler, it was exciting basketball.
What do you mean it doesn't matter? You have got to be kidding. Does New Yorker have stats on the proportions? The answer is no. Do you? The answer is no there too. So at the absence of that it sure does matter. Believe me JVG get's his fair share of heat on the air-waves here in Houston and they aren't dominated by a bunch of asian fans.
