You say it is debatebale and then say Vick is 100X in everything else? It might be debateable, but Johnny was incredible in college, NFL remains to be seen. I'll say Vick has better straight ahead speed and stronger arm, but Manziel is 100X better in everything else.
If Vick 2.0 was available in this draft he'd go #1 easy. We could trade our pick for an RG3-like ransom. People are only "down" on Manziel right now because he hasn't thrown at his pro day yet, a day that should carry very little weight, but the media will shove his performance - good or bad - right up your ******* and y'all will love it.
I hope scouts and Coach's/GM don't hold as much weight in pro day/combine/40 speed as the media and fans. Sure use it as a small portion of evaluation, but nothing like media make it out to be.
He sure did... And Johnny's arm isn't as strong and he isn't as fast but he still has similarities to Vick. That's just my opinion. Just like you compare Teddy to Kenny Rodgers.
I never liked Vick as a pro but his stock was through the roof coming out of college. His value coming out was on a completely different stratosphere than any QB available this year. If Vick 2.0 was available this year there's no way in hell he's getting past #1. I could see O'Brien passing up on him but in that scenario we'd be trading down.
I've always likened Teddy to more of a Garth Brooks, myself. Maybe Darius Rucker, but that would be solely because of pocket potential with a bit of scrambler crossover potential.
Good comparisons but I still see a lot more of Kenny in Teddy than Darius and Brooks. Teddy is a gambler and he gambled by not putting on his gloves to throw on the biggest day of his young life when he's been wearing gloves pretty much his entire career. I keep hearing Teddy is a smart kid but he hasn't been making smart moves.
Vick ran a 4.26 40yd dash at the combine. He would have been the clear #1 pick if he had come out the year before. I remember it well because we ended up with David Carr instead.
If they got to the NFC title game, they weren't so crappy....also, his contributions to that team were closer to that of a RB than a QB. He was awful when passing the ball but he ran for over 900 yards and Warrick Dunn ran for over 1100 yards. Micheal Vick for most of his career was a RB pretending to be a QB.
And that is where I think Johnny will be better than him. He is actually a QB that can scramble and run. Needs to work on stepping up in the pocket, but he got better this season.
