Mr Football didn't sign a big deal, it was for peanuts. No sales value there. Think in terms of a deal more like the ones Lin and Beverly has with Adidas and not like the LeBron one.

    Warren Moon not a fan:

Just about everyone thinks that Johnny Manziel is going to be one of the first quarterbacks taken in the 2014 NFL Draft. But not so fast, says former NFL quarterback Warren Moon. In an interview that he did on Wednesday, Moon revealed that Manziel might have what it takes to be a star in the NFL. But due to his size and his speed, he also might be a bust.

"You're talking about taking a guy number one overall in the draft and he's 5'11," Moon said. "He didn't really run that fast at the combine, only about a 4.6 which was closer to a 4.7, so you are talking about a small guy that's not very fast in an NFL that's big, strong, and fast. He likes to run around and make plays and he was able to do that in college. I just don't know how well that's going to transition into the National Football League."

Moon did say a few nice things about Manziel. But he also said that he fears Manziel could be another Tim Tebow.

"As a college quarterback, he was one of the greatest to ever play," he said, "but so was Tim Tebow. He had a tough time making that transition because he was that same style of quarterback."

Moon obviously isn't alone in his thinking. There are lots of other NFL analysts who have said the same thing. But Moon knows a thing or two about being a great NFL quarterback. So it's interesting to hear his take on Manziel Mania.

All due respect to Mr. Moon, but Manziel is nothing like Tebow. Manziel can throw a football. And Johnny isn't fast. He is quick at changing directions. 40 times do not do JFF justice.

Manziel had a pretty good ten yard split. His 40 time was dragged down at the end.

I'm not a fan, but he won't be dragged down from behind by linemen or anything.

Merrill Hoge calls him a bust:

Via Adam Schefter, who posted the Hoge quote, the NCAA analyst believes Johnny Manziel has bust ‘written all over him’, especially if he’s drafted in the first round.

ESPN analyst Merril Hoge on Johnny Manziel: “I see bust written all over him — especially if he’s drafted in the 1st round.”

Of course, Hoge is pretty hit and miss when it comes to his predictions as he was a firm believer Brian Brohm was a better NFL prospect than Aaron Rodgers as Niners Nation was quick to point out.

It’s hard to tell of Hoge pulls out some of these ‘predictions’ as more of a way to gain attention or if he truly believes them.

He did go on record as calling Tim Tebow out before the NFL Draft (in terms of his NFL capabilities) so he has a history of not whiffing, but by no certainty is his track record sparkling clean.

As I said in another thread, Hoge is an idiot.

Yeah, I completely agree with him on this topic, but he's still an idiot, if he ends up being right, it'll just be an accident.

D@mn Moon... Tell us how you really feel :(

Moon is one of the Top 3 passers of all time in my opinion and I always respect his opinions.

I'm a Johnny fan but not a blind one and I never thought Johnny was on O'Brien's radar... But I hope Johnny impresses on his pro day and individual work outs. I would really like to see him go to Philly. Johnny fits right into Chip's scheme and Foles is not too far from getting a new contract. So Johnny just may have a chance to go in the 1st round...

Does Manziel even get drafted in the first round? He's been ripped by many analysts.

This is the one place where I think the Tebow analogy is apt. I'm going to bet that there is as much variability for Manziel on draft boards as there is for any player in the draft. Before that draft, pundits were saying 1st round, 2nd round, 3rd round, 5th round, etc.

It took one guy falling in love with him, Josh McDaniels, to make him a first round pick. Who knows? If McDaniels is drafting in the top 5, maybe Tebow would have been a top 5 pick, or if McDaniels had changed his mind, and not been so in love and decides not to take him at all, maybe the 6th round comes around before another team wants to take a flier on him.

It just takes 1 team to fall in love.

Right now, based on no information at all, I think it would be really interesting for Seattle to take him with the last pick in round 1. The offense that Wilson runs already would fit his skill set, when Wilson started looking for a big payday Manziel would be insurance, and the team took a flier on Wilson in the 3rd when it wasn't clear at all that there'd ever be a spot for him - they just fell in love with the intangibles and decided to figure out how to make it work on the fly.

When Moon compares him to Tebow and said he did not make it b/c of the style of play is where he lost me. Tebow didn't make it b/c he was not even close to being accurate in the pros. Manziel will not have the problem.

I'm also not a fan of bringing up his 40 time. It's not his straight ahead speed that makes him special, it is his illusiveness. He's probably the best I have ever seen in that aspect, not to mention he is an accurate passer as well.

I don't agree with the Tebow comparison because Tebow couldn't make NFL throws. But I don't think he was comparing their individual talent.

I consider Johnny like a Vick Light with better passing skills. Difference is Vick has world class straight line speed to go along with being elusive. And you could be right about the 40 time but it's hard to sale an undersized quarterback as a top pick who doesn't post at least a 4.4 40 time.

Vick lite???? He is featherweight Vick

Vick had/has one of the strongest arms in the NFL and he runs a 4.3 flat

Johnny is more illusive and is more accurate.

    More "illusive" is very debatable

The only thing I give Manziel over Vick is accuracy, Vick is 100x better at everything else
