At this moment, no. He has not been healthy enough to show what type of player he will be game in and game out. But that doesn't mean that he won't be a max player. I just don't think it will happen as soon as he want it to.

See this is why tanking isn't so successful. Most of the time you won't end up with a superstar, but then he'll feel like he desrves to be paid superstar money. Personally neither Wall nor Beal deserve the max, both of them haven't even shown any flashes of standing toe to toe with the best players in the NBA. I mean, Wall even got injured and miss court time and now he wants a max extension? But I think the Wiz would have no choice but to give it to him because then he'll pout and might leave to the Lakers/NY out of spite.
LOL so what? Even if he was a sixth man Harden's production if you extrapolated his mins were superstar wortthy, and apart from his D Harden doesn't have any holes. Wall doesn't defend, and he doesn't have a good jumper, and he doesn't have elite playmaking abilities either. He's just a pg version of DH, 100% dependent on athleticism and as a pg that's not as important. Ty Lawson makes 10M a year and yet is so much better than Wall.
I wasn't saying Harden isn't deserving of a max contract this year...i was saying he got one after last year coming off of the bench. Sure, if you look at Harden's numbers and production this year he is worth it, but not the numbers from last year. And Harden averaged over 31 mins per game last year while getting under 17 ppg. Even with "extrapolation", that doesn't amount to the numbers he is producing this year. My point is, you don't need ridiculous numbers to get a max deal nowadays. JWall will get one.
John Wall = $12 mil/yr With this logic though, Wizards will offer 5 years/$80mill (or w/e his actual max is)
Harden last season was better than Wall ever was and probably ever will be. John Wall is pretty much the same player he was his rookie year and has no jumper or an ability to lead a team.
Depends on who you ask. For 28/30 NBA teams the answer is probably no but to the Wizards and at least one other team the answer is yes. Wizards will have to pay him the max if they want to keep him and keep him happy. He's their #1 pick and franchise player. He's still only 22 and has a lot of untapped potential and even though he's pretty good right now he's still raw which is actually kinda scary. It's usually years 3 and 4 when pg's really figure things out. I don't think he's had quite a fair shake yet. So far he's had a promising rookie campaign, a decent sophomore season even with a lockout shortened season with boneheads like McGee and Blatche being a bad influence and a partial 3rd year due to injury. He's already ahead of the curve on so many things on natural talent and instincts alone. If he continues to work hard, develop the jumper and become a leader he'll be worth every penny of the max. Wizards have no choice but to roll that dice.
Love's team is also in the lottery every year. Wall is going to get the max, if not from the Wizards then someone else.
Beal has shown flashes. The last Wizard-Rocket game he actually looked great against his competition and probably outplayed that player...which happened to be James Harden.
