haha, this is the first time, I hear that someone is asking if the best player is hurting the team. LOL. Its like saying Brady/Brees/Rodgers are hurting the patriots/saints/packers defense, the defense doesnt play well, because their QB will score on the next drive, so who cares if the other team scores, they have a franchise QB.
But am I really asking that? My headline says that but my content is to actually poke fun at the others on the front 7 who aint doing sheet. Learn to read between the lines of what the true meaning is...better posters on here understand that concept. Screw off fockers and get off my lawn! You dim witted pieces of regurgitated trash
This is just the craziest concept/ idea I have ever read. Without JJ the D would be middle of the pack, especially withe loss of Cush, and to a lesser extent Jamison. With the way Barwin has been pretty much a no show so far, the D could be even worse than middle of the pack. Just my take on it.
Isn't this the Tmac, Lebron, MJ , kobe argument. People just watch them do their thing cause they are so good.
I see your point, sort of like everyone watching MJ make a spectacular dunk. However, he would not have won all the NBA titles with "everyone" playing at a high level. If they are waiting for him to make the big play, they are not doing their best. They should be trying to beat him to it. On another matter, I don't like the "show off " stuff after the sacks. I liked the way Earl just dropped the ball had walked away.
I think everyone is being a little hard on the OP. I see what he's trying to say. I don't agree, but I see what he's trying to say. He's just asking if other players perhaps aren't going as hard as they would if not for Watt dominating. I don't' think that's the case, but it's not exactly completely outlandish to ask. The thread title could perhaps be re-worded, though.
there is some merit to the OP's post. it probably doesn't apply to the NFL, but it certainly applies to the typical work environment and in his case, his daughter's soccer team. if you have ever known anyone who is an overachiever and you're observant enough, you'll recognize that his co-workers are doing just enough to get by. as a matter of fact, the co-workers resent and are threatened by the over-achiever. comments like, "i could do that if i really put the time into it" or "why does he work so hard" or "he's such a show-off" are common and stem from insecurity. and instead of bettering themselves, putting more effort and thought into their work, they'd rather gang-up, badmouth him and wallow in their own mediocrity. so while i don't agree that JJ's performance is the cause of everyone's lack of it, it's not as far fetched as a lot of you think.
I can't agree with you OP. Most athletes would love having such a great talent around them. In fact, when you have such strong talent to play with, you feel more confident. If anything, the Texans defense should feel like they can win, they are a great squad, etc... For example, many Broncos players talked about how confident they feel having Manning on there team. Not really trying to compare JJ Watt to Manning, but just giving an idea. If a player can be so dominant, it should motivate the others and boost there confident in their squad. So I don't think Watt is hurting the defense.
