What's to cherry pick. Is this actually tuned to the time Lin is on the court and guarding them or is it just a starting vs starting PG comparison, because that's what it seems like to me, in which case, it's a horribly flawed stat considering how often TD and Beverly were put in for 'defense' only for the opposing starting PG to light them up get hot.

It's just as pointless as using raw box score. But typical of Lin detractors, nuance doesn't seem to be their forte. Morey on the other hand...

I didn't even say anything about Lin and you're still angrily defending him lol.

I don't even see Kobetards go this hard to whiteknight their favorite player and he's actually good.

Why are we comparing Lin to those other guys when they're probably 1st or 2nd option on their team? How many of his opponents play off the ball as much as he does? Brandon Knight, Mario Chalmers and maybe George Hill...

Context, nuance, logic. None of these are important when trying to beat down on Lin.

    ^^^THIS^^^^

The haters will be the haters no matter what. They have unrealistic expectation of Lin. Averaging 13/6 playing along a ball dominant SG would have been darn good for almost anyone but Lin.

With Lin's talents, work ethic, strong will and determination, I have complete confidence that he will break out next year (hopefully on another team because Houston is just infested with Lin hate from day one until now) and make LOH eat dirt.

Honestly, as long as Lin is playing with another ball dominant guard beside him, you'll never really be able to judge his true talent as a PG...His numbers w/o Harden this year are frankly mindblowing...21.5pt/7.3ass/60+TS%, 2-2 record, 3 games were against top 10 defenses, took the Spurs to OT...all w/o an all-star on the team, a bench player at SG, and no competent big-man scoring options. Only 7 different players in NBA history have averaged that over the course of a season. Of course this is a small sample size, but like Linsanity last year, we don't have a larger sample size of him playing the true PG position, and we're likely not to have one as long as he's playing w/ Harden. Any assessment of him at this point, as a PG, is unfair.

lin is fine. he was very solid for us after the AS break. and most importantly, he showed tremendous improvement in his ability to play with harden by improving his shot. he was also more assertive than he was earlier in the season. he was 14/6 on 56% true shooting post all-star break, which is like 17/7 per36. I don't know what more people would expect playing next to harden. he sucked in the post-season (and sucked is an understatement), but i'll give him a pass because he was obviously injured. im hoping he can improve in the off-season and come back even better...cuz our backcourt wasn't the problem for us this year.

our problem was no consistent 4, and a huge dropoff at the center position when asik went to the bench. i also thought our offense could get stagnant which resulted in poor decisions (both lin and harden, even parsons at times). and our transition defense blows. but overall, our backcourt was our strength.

What does it mean when you are a PG playing together with star/super star?

Just some stars came into my mind, like Kobe, LaBron, Anthony, and so I looked at their point guards' stats (mainly assists, points, etc) during the 2012-2-13 regular season:

Steve Nash: ppg 12.7, apg 6.7, spg, 0.6
Mario Chalmers: ppg, 7.3, apg 4.6, spg 1.5
Raymond Felton: ppg, 13.9, apg 5.5, spg 1.4

Jeremy Lin: ppg 13.4, apg 6.1, spg 1.6

I think Morey's over all assessment of JLin's 2012-13 performance is not biased.

Omg stop being a hater and stop riding his D*ck, he had a good year and struggled in the playoffs due to injury. No need to bash him/compare him/set him on fire blah

Well I think we should compare Lin to Chris Paul because he is a potential FA target this off-season (may replace Lin in a trade).

    2012/13 per game stats.

    Chris Paul $19m (projected)

    33.4 min.
    48.1% / 32.8%
    9.7 ast
    2.4 stl
    2.3 to
    16.9 pts

    Jeremy Lin $8.3m

    32.2 min.
    44.1% / 33.9%
    6.1 ast
    1.6 stl
    2.9 to
    13.4 pts

As you can see Chris Paul is much better than Lin in Asists, Steals and Points per game.

Given that Paul's stats are at a ceiling and Lin may show significant improvement next season...

Is Paul at $11 million more next season a good trade for Lin in Houston's system?

What numbers does a PG need to produce to win a chamionship?
    Mario Chalmers
    Jason Kidd
    Derek Fisher

Chris Paul is of course a better player than JLin.

But CP has more experience, earns more, and he is the No. 1 scorer of his team. He is the Alpha male while Houston Rockets' Alpha male is James Harden.

You can compare them because both JLin and CP are point guards, but they are different in terms of their status.

Thank you for pointing out Harden is the "alpha male" in Houston.
Who do you think would be the "alpha male" if Paul comes to Houston?
I think that's a difficult question but I would expect Paul numbers to decrease a bit and move closer to what Lin is producing because Harden is a ball dominant guard.

My main question was wether Paul is worth $19m compared to Lin $8.3m in the Houston system?

I think NO (especially with Lin's expected improvement). And I also think you don't need an ALL STAR PG to win champions as has been demonstrated in recent years and broader history of the NBA.

It is understandable(IMO at least). Or care to elaborate?
I haven't played Starcraft in ages, so no, nothing to do with that.

I wage a war against IT? Haters turn IT into a war? What is IT?

The words I use are just for effect, exaggeration, nothing malicious, unlike the hatin' mob.

Still though, Nash and Felton run the offense. Especially PnR.

I agree. Of course CP3's better than Lin because CP3 is the undisputed best PG in the league.

But if many people here don't want Lin on the team because he needs the ball too much, it makes no sense (besides from a "OMGZ, another superstar!!!" standpoint) to bring in CP3 who is at his best when he has total control of the ball and offense.

It'd be like bringing Kobe to the Rockets. He'd instantly be the best player on the team, but he wouldn't fit our system as is. Morey's trying to build an actual team, as opposed to a video game team.

You mean the Morey who is going hard after CP3?
