I meant people using the entire playoff series as some psycho indicator of a person's future. Real basketball fans should know better.

Maybe some do but are whiny insecure ****s who had too much to drink.

You see it more because it affects you. This forum's too huge for the mods to police everyone. Just put them on ignore and move on.

I want this guy as my pg.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CjJBvTWj6Q

He's very self aware and that's the first sign of someone capable of improving. He's obviously not happy at 13 and 6 - avg for a 8mil starting pg, and is "as motivated as ever". More than his d-league days and I like hearing that.

Can't wait till next year, and that goes for the whole team as well.

Hah, yeah, exactly...guy comes to this organization believing he'll be playing the PG position, and he gets stuck at some weird quasi-combo guard hybrid position. The 4 times this year he gets to play the true PG position, he puts up all-star numbers (21.5/7.3/60%TS), and yet people think playing this hybrid position has nothing to do with his perceived struggles. Hey, how about when DHoward comes next year, we move Asik to the PF position, he'll do great, right?

I've posted this before, but people forget that usually, 24 year old PGs suck...Only 53 times has a 24yr old or younger put up 13/6/.535 TS%. Most of the names on this list are either HOFs, All-Stars, or solid starters on contending teams, and the guys that put this stat line up twice before turning 25 were all at one time elite players. Also, how many of these guys played with a ball-dominant SG next to them on the floor? Very few I would wager.

Should have pointed at that the list above is comprised of only guards, not all players, but it also includes SGs as well...

what are realistic expectations for Lin (or any pg)?

I would have thought that 13/6 in 32 minutes a game would have been quite satisfactory especially after landing Harden.

I honestly think that if Bev put up those numbers, everyone would be elated. Bev did nothing close in the playoffs and some here are demanding Lin be benched/traded/waived/executed/stoned/shamed/etc.

I personally like all our guards. Harden is turning into a top notch SG. Bev brings a lot of energy and was a true find. Lin has the size and skill to.pkay either position. And they are all young and nowhere close to.their peaks! Wish some.of the self-proclaimed "true" fans would relax. If Lin was inconsistent (which he was) j then what the hell was Beverley? Is dumping Lin and going with Bev going to actually make things more consistent

13/6 is respectable for a guy who's not the primary ball handler on the team and has one of the lowest usage rate for starting PGs.

Only 12 total guards this year had 13/6 on 53+TS%...and Lin objectively plays better defense than at least 5 of these guys...he had a very respectable season, especially considering he wasn't playing his true position, the team did not play to his strengths (lack of PnRs, and no offensive weapons at the C-PF position), and he was coming off surgery.

This poll should have the answers "Yes/No/Maybe".

    I vote "Maybe".

I remember when Bobby Sura put up 10/5 one year and we all thouht he was a demigod. Would faint a lot though. I guess it all has to do.with hype and expectations.

Bring up Sura is not an honest comparision. Sura was coming off his best year in Atlanta, was a 9 year vet, who was still in his prime, albeit in the late stages. Who knows, maybe he may have finally learned how to be a decently successful PG in the NBA. And he still averaged 3 less points/1 less assist than Lin (despite having 2 premier offensive players on the team, as opposed to 1 on the current team...I can't imagine how wide open he was on that team, and how many simple passes would lead to assists). Oh, and he shot a lower TS%.

I firmly believe Jeremy will return and play much better next season. He understands what he needs to work on this summer.

That's something the hater's don't get when it comes to JLin. The guy is DRIVEN. He's not one to rest on his laurels or get complacent. He's going to get better and better.

Sorry- I only made the assumption that if people aren't comfortable with Lin then they wanted Beverley to start next season... b/c there are a gazillion posts on CF saying that.

But if the plan is to trade Lin for a different PG, who would you recommend we try to get? 790 host was suggesting trading Asik and Lin for Rondo. Then we have a hole at C and PF who we traded for a guy who wasn't a great his first year either and who still can't shoot the 3 or hit FT's.

Add a solid PF on our team who can work the pick and roll with Lin and he could possibly be an All-Star next season.

Jeremy Lin is probably the most talented PG we have. Beverly might be the best fit in the offense. I like both and hope we keep them.

Lin was injured this series, seemed to be favoring his chest in game 6, and probably didn't take it to the basket because of that.

I think Lin is a hard worker and will improve this offseason. Beverly busts his ass. I'd like to see them both stay.

Lin knows his weaknesses nd he is driven to fix them n the offseason. I bet he will be the first one to tell you that his playoff performance was in a nutshell, bad. He is a humble, driven, team first player who is willing to fix his faults. With that, I am more than comfortable with him being our PG of the future.

He just needs to work with Harden so they can find a way to maximize their strengths when they are both on the floor.

32 year old Kirk who averaged 8/5 this year (with Derrick Rose OUT). Shot 38 percent too!

Bulls would take that trade in a second. Come up with someone better than that.
