His walks just disappeared. I wouldn't mind the lack of hitting if he was still drawing walks, but it seems like that is gone.

I haven't watched much lately. Can anyone explain what the pitchers are trying to do to him? Are they pitching around him and he's impatient or are they hitting him up with junk? What is it?

His strikeouts have been ridiculously low so he's making contact. My guess is he's going after breaking stuff and grounding out. Hope he breaks out soon atleast the rest of the lineup is producing pretty well.

He just looks like he is not seeing the ball well at all. I honestly don't remember the last time he actually made good contact.

It kind of reminds me of what Justin Upton has been going through all season. He hasn't gotten many good pitches to hit, so he started expanding his swing zone and it resulted in a lot of weak outs. Over the past 8 games, though, he's changed his approach and he's been hitting the ball much better.

Hopefully JD can make similar changes. Shorten that swing zone. If the pitchers are making good pitches on the corner and you strike out looking, don't worry about it. Just wait for a pitch in a good spot to hit and go after it.

Lol. Amazing how wrong and right I was in one post. This was from 2012 so I don't remember what I saw in JD back then as he hadn't done anything. Man did Singleton prove just about everyone wrong. Easily one of the biggest busts in Astros history.

He had a decent enough 2011 after getting called up. He must have gotten off to a good start in 2012.

If you consider a guy who completely changed his game and turned into a different player than the one you "called", and then was successful...

    then yes, you did.

Old threads are always hilarious. We are all morons.

What’s up with all the JD Martinez stuff in this forum? We’re like 4 years into him being a great player already. This isn’t new.

I had the same reaction, LOL. I'm reading it, thinking, "Hey, this Leroy knows his shi---- did he just praise Jon Singleton?"...

But, honestly.... NO ONE knows. It's fun to speculate and discuss, argue, etc. But who the F knows? Even those who were "right" - they weren't right because they knew what they were talking about. They were "right" because they got lucky that JD Martinez completely re-engineered his career after the Astros - featuring one of baseball's best front offices - released him.
