Javier has been unhittable for a while.

Now he looked shook and gave up back to back jacks in the biggest game of the season. Will this break him down mentally and change his career?

seemed like it took lidge a very long time to gain his confidence back after the pujols homer

No. In order to be the next Brad Lidge, he would have first had to have at least a couple of dominant seasons as a reliever.

    One outing?

He's been lights out in the playoffs.

Turn your attention to the choking batters in this lineup.

He gave up 2 HRs because all relievers are due for bad outings. When a guy has been uncharacteristically lights out for an extended period of time, I’m always weary that the next time they come up they will be prone to giving up runs

That Pujols homer is probably still orbiting the earth. I mean it just wasn’t when he hit it, but how he hit it. That was a lot different than two solo homers.

The pitching is not the reason this team is losing. You knew with all the runners they were leaving on base it was going to come back to bite them.

No! Lidges was devastating. The first Astros World Series appearance was at stake. Lidge got the first two out of the inning then gave up three. He could not get David Ekstein out and that hurt. I still have nightmares over it

Well we won that series so I’ll take the same outcome if that’s an option.

You know what I mean. Javier hasn’t given up a single run this postseason till now.

I’m basically just asking “will blowing the biggest game of the year in epic fashion break him mentally and change his career?”

How should I know what you mean? You asked a very specific question comparing him to Brad Lidge.

You could have asked without invoking Lidge, but you didn't, therefore I answered based on the words and comparison you used.

I was at that game. The party was on after berkman homered.
Fans were taking pics with the field in the background in our section.
That pujols homer really ****ed us in the next series.
Roy could have started game one of the world series.

Well now I’m asking you this… do you think blowing the biggest game of the year in epic fashion will affect Javier mentally going forward?

I know the game is mainly on the offense but Javier going from unhittable to dropping back to back jacks in the World Series is tough.

    confidence is big for pitchers
