Calm down guys. Nash is an all time PG, few people remember that he has gotten further than CP3 and has more accomplishments. He was old a f when he retired and sucked with the lakers...but there were few players I feared more when he used to play us with the suns. That being said , Harden is the better talent...and I think it's neck and neck. If harden takes us to the finals it puts that argument to rest
What was the net effect of those centers on Michael? (I agree that they were all badass and better than every center today except that Karl Anthony Towns might be better than Alonzo)
After SAS game 6 it is tough. James Harden is clearly more talented, but Steve Nash has an intangible leadership quality that is so hard to find.
Full disclosure. Were I picking for the Rockets during the 1984 draft, knowing what I know now, I'd still pick Akeem first. Having said that, I gotta disagree a little with Don. Jordan would be amazing in today's NBA. My opinion is that not only would he have adapted to the many changes, and there are a lot, he would have thrived. There are a handful of players that I saw over the years who had a competitive drive that was amazing to witness. Bird, obviously, Dream, of course, Dr. J, a couple I'm sure I'm forgetting, and Mr. Jordan. Jordan simply wouldn't have allowed himself to be less that one of the best players in the league in this or any other year. Like Hakeem, Bird, and Erving, his will wouldn't have allowed anything less than that level of excellence. All fantasy, of course, but it sure would be fun to see in today's league, wouldn't it?
Harden does more with less. Nash had all star talent surroundimg him majority of his career in Dallas and then phoenix. Harden has a bunch of role players and winimg at a high clip. Harden would look even better with prime Amare Stoudemire, Joe Johnson, Shawn Marion, Barbosa, Diaw etc. That team was unfairly stacked aling with his Dirk/Antoine walker etc Mac's. Harden has had great teammates in okc but he hasnt had much outside of fwight and a crap coach in mcfail who he made a respectable coach from the basement of a reputation he had. Harden has revived Eric Gordon's career and made ryan Anderson legitimate. Harden simply does so much and has too much of a burden its illogical for anyone to think Nash is the better player Also Harden doesnt need soft rules to make him better he's a rugged player that thrives on contact unlike Nash
Nash is a better passer and PG than Harden who is a combo guard, but from a basketball player standpoint, there is not a single thing that would even suggest that Nash is better than Harden at any point in Nash's career.
Not even a discussion, and I'm not the biggest Harden fan. Harden is far superior, just not on all levels but all-round: no contest! Steve Nash did not deserve 2 MVPs, and Harden should not have 0 so let's give 1 of them to James
if harden was white i think he wins both 2015 and 2017 mvp. that's how nash won while averaging 15 to 18 pts/game lol
Nash made MDA. Even though they lost Amar'e they got pretty deep in playoffs. MDA didn't do much until he got harden.
I think you are forgetting this little stretch of games dubbed Linsanity. Look at what Lin and the Knicks did under MDA when they bought into his offense. Look what happened when Melo got back and ruined it all. Look at how mediocre Lin has been after leaving MDA. It is important to remember, a coach is only as effective as the tools he has to work with. If those tools aren't the right ones or they refuse to work the right way, that coach is going to look pretty damn ineffectual.
Jordan would absolutely eviscerate today's NBA. 35 ppg easily. Saying he wasn't a high percentage shooter just bc he didn't take and make a lot of three's is just ludicrous.
D'Antoni's offense needs a ball dominant attacking PG. Nash, Lin, and Harden all fit the bill. There's a reason why he promptly named Harden the PG right from the beginning. A guy like Beverley wouldn't do. We'll see if CP3 can fit that. He is ball dominant, but not as attack minded as Harden.
