Exactly, him & Yao lost that game.

How many times could two NBA players cough up the ball in one game. They did a Piss Poor Job protecting the ball.

    Really unbelivable.

I didn't complain when he's shooting 11/15, and I won'dt complain if he shot 15/22 last night. The problem is he wasn't shooting 15/22, he shot 10/22, so he should know it was not HOT for him and he should think of creating more for teammates.
It's an average, if James's career shooting average is very high, I wouldn't have problem also. But he isn't.

Tmac took a lot shot because he's our primary offensive weapon. But James? He is the guy who supposed to run the team and who supposed to create and find his team mates shots. That's a total different story. He's a PG not SG for God sake. The first 2 games had nothing to do with his last game and he didn't took as many shots as the last one. Moochie had 2/2 nighst but should he keep shooting 20 times the next night? I didn't say center should take all the shots, but as I said Yao is a better option scoring wise than James, and I believe it's a fact.

Yao is one of the very few centers who can get his shots off on any single coverage and shoots a hight percentage, so he is entitled to shoot more, what's off topic?

So far You still can't defned the that James was not as "hot" as you insisted last night by facts. You think he was hot last night doesn't mean it actually was. The numbers proved.

Please, other players get penalized for getting to the line and draw shooting fouls? Please read again, that 25 foul shot attemps have already been converted to 12 shots by other players, and it becomes 68(56+12) for 74 points instead of 56 shots for 54(74-20)points, and it's already in James's favor.

And 68/74 is just as good as 22/24.

Here's a novel idea. Don't let the opinions you read on a BBS piss you off. Next thing you know, you'll be calling each other out and threatening to kick each other's asses.

Grow up...it's the internet for Christ's sake.

how did a thread on mike james become the yao ming needs / dosesn't need more touches thread? ugh..u guys stop it right now damn it ! grow up.....or somethnig.

MJ is unconscious right now, and as any coach in the world will tell you, RIDE THE HOT HAND.....

Bobbie S will make this all meaningless soon..as in, MJ is the 6th man we have been dreaming about...consider that JVG will rotate James in with DM, and Barry and Weatherspoon apparently..now that's a pretty good 2nd team ya know ? ANd boy, will we waqnt MJ to shoot lights out then ...

I love Yao and want to kill him some nights, but if DM is pulling down reb's, jon barry is tossing it ahead and MJ is finishing like what I see, wow look out for the rockets..that's 48 minutes of great hoops from a pretty complete bench, coming your way soon..

Let's face it, till Yao gets control of himself more, ( which he will), it's gonna be tough to get a full game out of him anyway..again, thank gawd for Dekembe..and all you folks who dissed teh :eek:le man: early on now go kiss his .....elbows or something..is there abetter back up center in the NBA ? How many teams would trade for him now ? LAST LAUGH, ( AGAiN), CD......

I would give MJ a few more games before judging his play. He's a point guard learning a new team and a totally new offensive system. Yet he is being asked to produce immediately, so it is not surprising that he would prefer to shoot rather than pass. I would give him a few more games to get more comfortable with his teammates.

Even Jason Kidd needed a few games to adjust to Vince -- but look at them now.

My point is that that makes no sense. Nobody should be penalized for foul shots, but they should not get credit for those shots when evaluating field goals, either. That is what you are trying to do.

Example: Mutombo shot 0-2 from the field. He did, however, make 3 out of 4 FG's. Does that mean he shot well? No, he shot 0-2.

Free throws are just a bonus. Sometimes they happen after a player is fouled while shooting/trying to shoot but other times they occur due to team penalties, etc..

The 56 official field goal attempts resulted in 54 points. There is no way around that.

What exactly are you trying to argue anymore?

We'll even use your formula and take a look at who was more "efficient" than James.

    The list is:
    David Wesley- Barely.
    TMac- Ok.
    Jon Barry- Ok.

    Juwan Howard was equal.

If you want David Wesley and his play of late shooting more than Mike James and his play of late...be my guest. I don't think TMac was unhappy with his attempts.

Are you trying to argue Jon Barry should be shooting more or what?

Add in the fact James put up a rock solid 7 ast, 2 turnover game- a 3.5 AST/TO ratio. Excluding James, the rest of the team combined for a 1.15 AST/TO ratio. Leave out Jon Barry too and it's under 1.

You should be more concerned that the starting point guard got more defensive rebounds than the starting power forward and center combined.

I don't believe it's sound reasoning. Had Mutombo not get fouled, he'd make those 2 dunks. So it's more like 2/4 instead of 0/2. That's why his 4 FTs was converted to 2 shots instead of just totally get ignored.

This thread has nothing to do with rebounding or if James is a good player. In my first post in this thread, I stated James would be a perfect 6th man like Bobby Jackson to the Kings once Sura comes back because I think James tends to shoot too much instead of getting teammates more involved. That's about it. There is no hating towards James or whatsoever.

I think james is great for this team but after seeing this last game, I think I would rather have Sura starting with James off the bench or playing shooting guard.

Huh? If you are fouled while shooting and you miss, it does not count as a missed shot.

this analysis is pure garbage. you're comparing a perimeter playing guard to a center. weak.
