The Cat, I was wrong about the option year thingey. The Nuggets just have a right of first refusal, or whatever you want to call 'a team qualifying offer'. I still don't think the Rockets will be able to outright sign LaFrentz... ------------------ Everything is proceeding as I have foreseen...
all I'm saying is that we need a proven player to go after and not throw our money to a guy who hasn't proved anything. That's precisely my point. If you want a proven center, why noy Hakeem? We only have cap room this year and next year. The year after that, Steve's max extension kicks in. What proven centers are even potentially available? We are fine from the 1-4 spots. Shaq- No Mourning- No Robinson- No Mutombo- No Ratliff- No H. Olajuwon- Yes Camby- No J. O'Neal No A. Davis- No R. Lafrentz- Maybe M. Olowokandi- Maybe And reports from those close to him say he has a very good work ethic. You don't survive John Chaney at Temple if you don't. You don't make it through the CBA for 3 years and become an NBA Rookie of the Year contender if you don't. Groin injuries have varying degrees of severity, and I highly doubt he nor the Warriors wanted to risk potential injury by having him play in pointless games in April. ------------------ Draftsource.net-- the premier source for draft info. The Nugz passed on Jamison, Vince, Nowitski, Pierce, and Wells to draft LaFrentz. It's going to cost us one of our starters to get him. I don't think that Denver will take anything short of Mobley or Griffin in a trade. If they say that they want Cato or Walt, then may God have mercy on us all... Seeing as though we won't be able to acquire Raef, our only alternative would be Jackson. Now, seeing MacCullough sign for 6yrs, $33.75 million, I think that Jackson would seek a similar multi-year deal. Kind of pricey for a guy who could turn out to be a one year wonder. Seems like our only hope is for someone to beat Cato's ass into submission and make him play. ------------------ "Oh No..." -Bill Walton in 97 just before Stockton's buzzer beater
Cat, have you heard any rumors of Denver shopping LaFrentz recently? I know he's had a rift with Dan Issel, but I don' think he's on the market. The Nuggets aren't as dumb as the Grizz. ------------------ "Oh No..." -Bill Walton in 97 just before Stockton's buzzer beater
No, and that's my point. I'm saying don't pass up on everything now for a small chance at Lafrentz next year. ------------------ Draftsource.net-- the premier source for draft info. Profiles, rankings, mock drafts, and more! The Mo Taylor Fan Site
Maybe Marc Jackson rumors are being spread to bring Hakeem around. From BSKBall.com: 07/19-WARRIORS MAY WIN WITH YEARS- The Marc Jackson sweepstakes appears to be one of the last games in town, labeled a 2nd tier player, it was expected he'd find a seat when the others started filling up. His 2 prime options are the Sonics and the Pistons, both have enough cap room to sign him away from Golden Sate who can match any offer up to the median exception ($4.5 million). The problem is both Detroit and Seattle are reluctant to sign the 1 year player to a very long term contract after only 48 games of NBA experience. Rumor has it both are offering 3 year deals at $5 million, with a team option for a 4th. The Warriors still hold an edge because they could offer 6 years and roughly $33 million to land Jackson. Its said the Pistons would be agreeable to some incentive triggers to guarantee future years of a deal, like making the playoffs or certain statistical rankings. In the end it looks like Golden State still leads the chase if they want to make a full out commitment to their guy. Jackson is said to want to make a deal soon, and may make his intensions known as early as Saturday. There appears to be some last minute interest from the Rockets, who could create some space to land Jackson, but Rockets sources say that's unlikely to happen. ------------------
we already have Marc Jackson. His name is Kelvin Cato. Do we really need to spend another 5-6 million a year to get a center who has yet to prove his worth in an 82 game season. ------------------
