now here are some actual answers to the main question. so what would you guys suggest? keep it as it is where he is the second option after (was tmac)? do you rid yao because he is tall n slow?
As much as I love Yao, I agree with those who say that you cannot completely build around Yao. The fact is, Yao CAN be neutralized when teams want to. So you cannot depend on him to carry a team like Hakeem, Jordan, or even LeBron and Wade. This is especially true when the current rules allow people to double (or semi-double) him without the ball. It doesn't help that Yao is not athletic enough to get the ball despite the tactic. You've got to have other ways to kill the opponents when they focus on stopping Yao. This is why I still believe Adelman is good for this team. He can coach a multi-dimentional team.
If you don't build around Yao Ming then who's going to be a key player? Plus centers have a history of playing the best basketball in late 20's.
I think it way Yao all the time. After all remember that the Rockets brought TMac to complement Yao, not vice versa.
So he did! Hayes,Battier,Scola,Deke,Francis, and even Artest , they get contracts from Chinese companies because of Yao!have you ever seen a team that many role players get contracts from foreign countries?
i am wondering what rox was in last a few years. hmmm, the worst defense team and/or the worst rebounding team. i am also wondering when yao became shaq who doesn't have shooting range. hey, all fans, now everyone should be happy now. we have shaq finally.
first, building around yao doesn't mean he has to shoot million times. it doesn't mean yao has to close the games either. second, you already admitted the rule has been changed. ex nba elite centers did get benefit of the old rule. third, as i understand what building around yao means, it forces other teams to draw defense around yao so gives rox other players more room and more flexiblities to score.
Would you be among those who are giving up on seeing Yao duplicate what Moses Malone and Hakeem Olajuwon did during their respective eras, which was to at least lead the Rockets to the NBA Finals? A thread I had thought of starting up is titled "Will Yao ever duplicate what Moses Malone and Hakeem Olajuwon did, which was at least lead a Rocket team to the NBA Finals?" I feel that the earliest appropriate time for me to start such a thread is after this season is over for the Rockets providing they don't win the championship.
