I don't think management wants to trade Shane since his contract will expire along with Yao and Caron Butler (if we acquire him). Next year will determine whether the veterans should be resigned and kept for contention or time to move on and restart.
i'd like to see battier traded for an expirer contract i'd mean we'd have 14 million or so to play with during free agency, i'd also like to see Yao opt out of his final year and sign for 10 million, which would allow us about 20million to play with. anyways i can dream cant i
Because bad teams like getting rid of players. For instance, would you do a battier for turiaf and watson if lowry is dealt with mcgrady? The warriors are a bad team, but shane has a shorter contract than ronny and they have enough bigs. T osay bad teams wouldn't trade or be involved to aquire shane doesn't add up. If the rockets have to include scola, would trading shane and cook for slamons and thomas make sense? I could go on and on as to why trading shane anywhere makes sense, but the usual people will think i'm just a hater. I think you look for the best deal and trade him. He's done, we have a guy in trevor that have shown he can come up big as a 4th or 5th option and he's younger. Hell, i might even include him in the mcgrady deal and see if washigton will include miller.
Stop Making Ariza Trades!!!! omfg, were not trading ariza, stop even mentioning him in trades, its obvious that were not trading our youth, even if morey says that no one is "untouchable". he cant say any names cause if he did, players would worry. duh were not trading brooks, ariza, lowry, landry. just stop im getting tired of all these things that say trade ariza. ariza is better than shane, and unlike shane, ariza can still improve and already has better defense and is way younger. its obvious that we are going to trade mcgrady, battier, scola, and all the rookies first before our future stars. . and the only reason i didnt mention budinger is because he is an asset.
your an idiot, do you know why kobe hasnt dropped 11001831902 points on us this year, do you know why we beat the lakers already? cause ariza was defending him, he made kobe take bad shots, your an idiot if you really think that battier is still the best defender in our league. who ate us up yesterday? wADE? and who wasnt on our team? ariza and lowry. ariza is our future battier, only way better athletisim. now quit your b****in.
No don't trade him, you will be left without a SF, since RA's stuck mind doesn't wanna put Ariza at SF.....
Cool it down with the caps. And fact check, Battier is not checking Kobe anymore. Kobe owns Battier for the past 2 years. You got a valid point that Battier is the best defender, but whats the point of defending when you are still letting the opposition scoring and at a high percentage, especially when you a non-factor on the other end?
Nope, Battier's main purpose especially this season is to be the 'Glue' guy and team leader. You trade him away, then that falls onto Chuck Hayes, who is good, but doesn't seem the type to stand up and take charge aside from in desperate situations. You can't expect to bring in a new guy (unless its Kobe Bryant or Chauncy Billups or one of those caliber of successful veterans) and expect the rest of this fairly young and inexperienced team to fall in line with someone they don't know or that is close to their age hasn't done anything. You lose Shane and Ariza or Brooks is suddenly the leader and no one really wants that. If Shane gets traded, it will be done next season, when Yao is back and can possibly at the very least assume some leadership.
lol ya that would be real smart for the blazers or kings considering that casspi and batum are both younger more athletic better shooters and better players then battier but besides that im sure they would be interested
Yes, the time has come to say goodbye. It's been fun. His 6.5+mil on next year's cap means more to the team than him.
I only voted yes due to the horrible judgment shown by growing the p*rn 'stache. It could be early onset Alzheimer's or schizophrenia.
Shane should start thinking about where and how to start his coaching career. I don't think it's NBA legal to transform his player contract into a coaching assistant contract so he could begin under Adelman's tutelage. However, that would benefit both the Rockets and Shane if the NBA allowed it.
