I clicked no. But only because the question was too vague. If we can improve the team via trading Shane - than you move him. The same is true of anyone on the team.

I'm sure like the other trades everyone suggest, well mcgrady going to wash makes alot of sence because of the butler & Yao & Miller theory ever heard of it? Ya Cause with Brooks and landry, and battier it probably the puzzle a good team that could win the championship...... Thats what i think..... there my one eight seven cents.... ignorance at its best wtf who cares..

    This is the wrong question...

The RIGHT question is what is our 4 year plan? All other answers come from that answer.

I wouldn't really mind if he's traded to a contender for an expiring contract and a pick. He deserves to be in a better situation, and it gives us more money to work with in the offseason. And the Rockets seems to do pretty well with their late draft picks.

Even without pick it could be good. That give Rockets the money to sign a max contract in the summer.

So can well, someone describe a realistic situation where Shane is traded instead of going "OH HE SUCCCKKKKSSSSS."

There's only one trade that's been proposed, and that was laughably dumb. Shane and Trevor for Illagauskas aka. no one since any trade involving would have us buy his contract so he can go back to Cleveland. Is this someone else who's after the fool's good sweepstakes at the end of this season?

The plan is to get another along star along with Yao and to have a final go. That is extremely hard. I would prefer Shane to stay if we did get another star, but if DM needs to include him in order to get one,he should do it.

It seems to me that management will not succeed in getting a star player to replace Tracy(who has long been finished as one). There is no use clinging on to Shane despite all what he has done for the Rockets,if we can't get a true 1-2 punch. In fact,Yao is unlikely to play at an elite level in the future. Even if he does,it is unlikely to be for a long stretch of time. Yao's trading value is much less than what a lot of people think.

Management needs to make sure that they don't goof up by offering big contracts and getting stuck with name players who can't get us to a championship. They should be realistic, and look to trade Shane for genuine young talent that can help us in the future, because re-building is the only way to go,unless something great happens miraculously.

People don't realize that Shane's role is diminishing on this team.
I don't think management is ready to face reality either.

What did he do to deserve to win a ring? I mean honestly? Horry and sam were traded for chuck and elie and smith were pushed out the door, yet battier deserves to be with a contender? Take the best deal and move on. I dont care if its the nets,clippers,t-wolves. If the contending teams want him which i'm not sure which one does, they can go get him.

I don't see why a bad team would trade for Battier.

Ideally, I'd like players that distinguish themselves as professionals, good teammates, good citizens, etc. to be put in favorable situations. Of course, the Rockets shouldn't bend over backwards to make that happen. If a better deal comes along and Battier has to be sent to a lottery team, so be it.

I agree, thats why I think they should consider this (From the Philly thread):

I think that is about the best you can do for max talent around Yao....

YES........the guy is declining and he has been playing well since the last season, it's about time we should trade him, if we can include him with T-mac to the Wizards I think we might have a chance.

Players like Shane are a dime a dozen.

T-Mac & Battier for Iggy and Dalembert NOW.

He is the last brick for champions. But for Rox, his value is undermined.

Nay. Lets not start selling the barn just to have some 1st round appereance this year..
Shane will be very useful next year when we start really contending. This year, its just a joke year where we give time to the youngsters.

Keep Battier! And re-sign him for very little money. Or, if you trade him, after his contract is up, he should come back and re-sign for little money!
