Even after this game? This game proved what I've argued all along. Ariza is not this scrub that all the people seem to think he is. He is the scapegoat for now, but he's a perfectly legit player. <Good>
I voted no because I prefer trading Ariza first.. However, for the right price, I would trade anyone on the team not name Yao or Landry.. Rockets' championship window is very small due to Yao's age and I assume we will get a quasi-all-star player at or before the trade deadline, keeping Battier would give us a better chance for the championship next 2-3 years than Ariza.. Not to mention, if somehow get get a franchise rookie, Battier could that perfect mentor...
How about No. Let's wait and see what happen after they add 40 millions back into the line-up. I want to see Battier, Yao, and Scola win a championship together.
Battier is a better player when he plays with legit NBA talent. He does not create his own shots, he plays off other players. That is his role on this team. In a game like tonight (and a season with no all-stars on the team), we didn't have near enough legit firepower to create offense. I don't like the fact that he only attempts 5 shots a game, that does not put any pressure on the other team's defense, but that is is game. Spot up 3 point shooter on kick out passes from the star that is drawing the double team. 'That' my friends is Battiers offensive contribution to this team.
Exactly my point. Stamp of approval. Lets wait till 40 mill can play with him. Plus nobody pointed out his locker room presence as i did on the post before. The reason for success is because everyone likes each other and respects one another.
His contract to his contribution on the court is getting wider by the day. For all the glue guy theory, Rox need someone to contribute not a glue guy. There is too many glue guys at rox anyway. Battier, Scola and Hayes comes to mind.
For the vet minimum I'd love Battier as he's worth the roster spot, for 7 million a year, we need contributors. This team would be so much better off salary cap wise if they wouldn't have picked up Ariza, which I think is kind of like winning that Denver game that may have cost us Roy. Battier's a nice player, but he's past his prime, and while having a glue-guy, which I'm not sure Trevor is, is nice I'm not so sure that having a declining glue guy is the right thing on a team that's making a youth movement. Sure Yao will be back next year, but what happened the last time we bet on our core delivering a championship? It didn't happen. Granted, it's always possible, but this team is further away from that than last year's team was. I'm not saying that we should trade him for a bag of chips, just something that fits this team better.

why do ppl keep making these r****ded ass threads, NO ONE WANTS BATTIER, hes washed up and over paid. /thread
shane battier is not nearly as helpful to this team as he would be for a contending team plus his shot is isnt fallin anymore....i hate to say it but its time for him to be traded
I would trade Trevor first. Shane is just a role player, he needs superstars to get him open shots. Next year he will be back to playing his normal level.
I would not trade him yet. His Rockets bobblehead doesn't even look like him! The organization owes him at least one more bobblehead night don't they?! So they can get it right?!1
Next year he will be older and slower....... As much as we all love Shane, with this current Team with 0 Superstars and even 1 injury prone star, I can't see Shane having his best years coming up.
