How about a 4 that can jump, defend, and most importantly play above the rim. The Rocket's post play is equivalent to what I see my when my dad and his buddies play at the local Y. We get a guy like Al Harrington/Josh Smith and I promise you it will open up perimeter play as well as post play from other players on this team. That in alone solves the problem. Think NBA basketball and compare Scola to other 4s in this league. He's laughable really..

umm...i'm pretty sure brooks contributes more than 10%.

You get Smith at the 3, who's a superb rebounder, Jhill at the 4 who's a solid reobunder, and Yao at the 5 who's a solid rebounder. You'll have more rebounding than you've ever hard before.

Heart and hustle is great, but its all on the offensive end. you know what will replace that? An easy flowing offense without hiccups. That's what Nash provides, as long as he has competent players around him wth a mix of size, athleticism, and shooting. Martin, Smith, Hill, Yao, perfect.

You only had to wait a minute or two :)

You are assuming the Knicks are a worse team than the Rockets right now. After losing to the Wiz and the Raps, its hard for me to believe the Rockets will not be making the Lotto on their own.

    what?

Yea, this would set them up for YEARS but working with the assumption we are rebuilding then we should have some cap room and good drafts in our future. I'd worry about them when we are contending again and just take our lumps now.

Rashard lewis is laughing at you. When you have brad miller as a center we want scola to block shots. Why arent we starting hill?

I think if we can let go of Yao at this moment somebody would bite. Trade this guy to a team with a competent medical and training staff, maybe to the Suns and just every other team not named the Portland Trailblazers.. But getting Oden for 2012 is something I would do.

I'm for trading anybody, if we get value back, and we're still covered at his position.

Scola could fetch a nice piece. And, we still have at C/PF:

    Yao / Miller / Hill
    Hill / Hayes / Jeffries / PPatt

Dampier is still out there, too.

Of course, PPatt won't be kicking ass until the 2011 playoffs.

I think we have the pieces to bring back both a Chris Paul and an Iguodala. And, DM seems pretty good at both getting complementary players as well as finding young talent in the 2nd round / undrafted.

That's the problem their all offense and no defense and because of that they become liabilities, yet these are suppose to be the best players on the team  maybe if they were 90% offense in crunch time we wouldn't be 3-9.

You do understand that Scola is ranked 13 in the league for points and 5 in league out of all forwards while rebounding 10 a game? I don't care what his game looks like, the point is he produces. Trade him to get a "Jeff Green" then the team is nothing.

Big problem with your logic. It's "90% of the offense" of a team headed to the Lottery for the 2nd season in a row. And if they manage to get things turned around? Another #14 pick or a first round exit as the 8th seed.

At Scola's age, his highest value is to a team where he is at best the 3rd offensive option. Unless you have some belief that Yao is going to walk thru a time machine or Brooks is going to morph into Derron Williams, there's no point in riding Luis back to the Lottery.

Martin + Scola isn't enough. Time to blow it up and start all over.

Do you understand, that we have no other options in the post besides Scola at the moment? Do you understand that Scola's #s are a a result of being on a piss poor team with no frontline? Do you understand that he is not an impact player and thus won't open anything up for another forward playing alongside him much less a perimeter shooter or cutter? Do you understand that he's the only thing that looks good enough to get something in substantial so this team can play a complete inside outside game ?

exactly. i love scola, but his worth right now is peaking and i hate to say it but we might need to be looking to acquire some young talent to rebuild.

Scola is playing like a man possessed, and you can't honestly expect his production to stay at this level for the remainder of the season, much less through the life of his contract.

So while it sounds painful (Scola is my favorite Rocket), now would be the time to see what we can get for him. It's just a matter of what he can fetch.

It's funny after each loss it's a different guy that needs to be traded. Y'all need to CHILL!!!!!! First Yao, then Hill, Brooks, Martin, Lowry, Bud, and now Scola.

The team isn't as bad as the record shows it to be. I guess its hard to see after a loss to the Craptors, but really its not too bad, they are a shooting team, and they got hot, you can't really do anything about that. It's not like we're out of the playoffs picture, WAY to early for that, even in the tough Western conference.

BUT, we may have overestimated our bench strength, I mean Budinger really hasn't shown the promise he did in preseason, thats a big missing part to the puzzle, we need someone who can score other than Martin and Scola. With Brooks out it makes it even harder.

Brooks and Yao will be back soon, even with Brooks deficiency on defense he's a big ingredient that makes the offense tick. Plus don't forget the big guy, even if its only 25 minutes......
