This is very tempting just because we could net some serious young talent for Luis Scola, who's value is pretty close to an All-Star.

Getting a trade package like James Harden, Cole Aldrich and/or Serge Ibaka, OKC 2011 1st round pick for Luis Scola isn't out the question...

But man you cannot replace the passion Luis Scola plays with :(

And that sounds good to me. I actually agree with you.

Face it Scola is not an impact player. He's a good post scorer and re bounder at times because there's no other guy capable of that on this team at the moment. He draws no double team and does not make plays for cutters or perimeter play (we barely have any of these types on this team). I think most teams see an aging 4 with no lift.. This guy can't get up and in today's game there is no room for a 6'9" 4 that can't get up. Trade him already if you can.

i thought OKC could be the second team that would like a vet like scola, especially since they could use a third go to guy at the PF spot....but im not sure a defensive-minded team wants to trade one of their better defenders, if not best, who's also the only defender at the bigs position, for someone who plays little D. It could totally screw what they got going and become a team with a lot of talent that doesnt fit.

We're going nowhere at the moment so we should rebuild by trading our most valuable pieces. Scola has about 2-3 great years left.

I'd love for some young talent in return.

LOL, what? If I were OKC I wouldn't trade even one of those players or even my late 1st round pick for Scola. I don't know where all the Jeff Green talk has come from but really? People on this forum complained about Carl Landry's short reach but Jeff Green is even shorter, rebounds at the same rate and is a less effective/intimidating offensive player than Landry. I would love to have Landry back but you just can't replace guys like that.

    Thats pretty much it.

I'm going to get some **** for this, but look at Boozer-Williams vs. Scola-Brooks. Now consider how far the jazz got and there willingness to part with a piece that wasn't taking them to that next level.

Why is this board so blinded by a fan favorite. Are you all holding even tighter because of Landry?

Honestly think Scola for Green is the trade if we are going with OKC. Jeff Green could slide to the 3 spot for us while Scola could be the nice 3rd option while Thabo and Ibaka could hide his defensive issues.

Scared of uncertainty, we know what we have with Scola but without him, who knows and that is terrifying for a lot of people.

Except we still sit with Battier/Bud at the 3 and Martin/Lee when/if we decide to play small.

Garner you see it too? Hell even if you put Tyson Chandler on this team a 7'1 guy that is athletic and can also jump but does not have the craftiness of Scola, this team would be winning more. Why? Hell when you're that athletic and agile you don't need no scoop move.. Tyson can get the lob dunk.. he can grab that hard to get rebound... That is mediocre impact can free up perimeter play better than Scola ever could. LOL...

Wow this thread is a year too early. Suppose DM wakes up one morning and decides he's had enough He wouldn't do anything else until 2011 season. Why?

    1. We own the right to swap the Knicks pick this year, aka sure-fire lottery pick. Tanking won't do us any good, blowing the roster now will just render the swap useless.
    2. The draft class is said to be "weaker" than normal due to the lockout. Of course I think its more hype than anything else, but it can't hurt to wait to rebuild after a year.
    3. The Yao situation-we don't know what will happen with Ming. Better to address his contract first before painting ourselves into any corners.

In 2012 Battier and Yao's contracts will expire. 2011 season would be the perfect time to unload Scola for an expiring and picks, especially since we'll have our own pick and NY's pick as well. Also if 2011's class is indeed watered down 2012's class will be extremely deep, yet again a good reason to tank for that draft class.

You have a 3-9 injury riddled team.

Play that record forward- you have a 21-61 team. Might I remind this board how shallow this season's draft will be because of the pending lockout?

true, but honestly, what worries me about shipping scola to OKC without gutting them of their defensive identity is that they'd become instant favorites in our conference behind LA.

Well the move would be for the future so Green would be at the 3 backed up by Bud while Martin and Lee have the 2. Battier would not be resigned so that would finish that. Green is a good defensive player IMHO and would help Martin, now getting a good defensive point is another issue but that is for another thread. ;)

Actually Yao and Battier are completely free-agents after this season. Not 2012. Yao can be rid of after this season.

90% of the offense comes from scola and martin. Who could we get to replace scola's hustle, rebounds, heart, and offense? Dont worry Ill wait.
