I would have disagreed last year about Chuck, due to his lack of offence. When he was on the court last year, it was a 5v5 game when we were playing D, but 4v5 on offence. He has really stepped up his game this year, and while he doesn't often look for a shot, when he has one he has a good chance of making it. If he could just improve his FT to 70-75%, he would double his value.

I agree wth you both as well about Chuck. But dont get it twisted, he will be sought out by other teams after this season and I have a feeling that his value/price could possibly increase.

Well as Morey said, no one is untouchable, but I think the current team bonds pretty well. I say for this year we are going to stick with this squad.

If that happens then I could part with him just as I could with Lowry.

The only guy I would keep if his salary doubled or even tripled is Landry. That's why he makes my list. Hayes and Lowry make my list because I feel they will continue to be a great value.

the only teams willing to offer Chuck anything would be contenders that need a defensive specialist but they won't pay Chuck. I'm sure he'll be a Rocket for a while.

Im curious to your thoughts about Yao, do you feel as though he is untouchable?

If he has to be included in a deal to bring the rockets an all star calibre player, I would have to seriously consider it. I love what Chuck brings to the team and I think he's one of the best defensive specialist in the league, but he's far from untouchable.

I do like what you are saying Brooks is basically a Jason Terry. In this type of offense it rewards a shooting PG. I still can't see Morey trading away a very important piece to this team. Imagine if we could get a scoring threat for just tmac.

No. I don't although I think people are wrong if they are worried about him fitting in next season.

I actually agree. No player is untouchable. I put "practically untouchable" in my original post but that is not even accurate. What I should have put is I feel those players bring the most bang for the buck and other than Landry, are mostly below other teams' radars.

For example, I don't see a team refusing to make a deal with us for not including Chuck or Kyle while I feel like that is very likely if we refused to include Brooks or Scola.

I do feel that Lowry and Hayes bring qualities that are both hard to identify and very, very hard to replace. Just watching all the little things those two guys on the court do makes me wonder how we were lucky enough to land two of them when most teams don't even have one.

Yao in my opinion is probably the only untouchable player on the team. But in this league there are probably 5 or 10 players ie.(Lebron, Kobe, Dwight Howard, Duncan and Durant ect.) that you would consider untouchable, every other player is fair game on the trade front.

Agree with you 100%. It would be painfull as hell to see Chuck or Lowry traded because they do bring much much more bang for the buck than most players.

Nobody on this roster would be out of the question in my opinion. But specifically, I wouldn't be heartbroken if we had to package Ariza away to get a star player.

Please tell me you're kidding. With all due respect! You'd be willing to give Landry a contract starting at $9 million? I would rather see him walk, unless he shows a lot more than he has up until now. I love the guy, but he still has a lot to learn. We really don't know what his ceiling is, but he's challenged as a rebounder and at passing the ball, for example. Carl's going to have to really "blow up" to get $9 million a year, IMO.

I think he has shown that he is well on his way to earning that type of money. For the Rockets to pay him that much he would certainly be starting and playing 32+ minutes. I think 20/8 are what we would expect from him in those minutes and that is worth $9 million to me. I doubt it is to Morey but at some point we have to start paying guys if we want them to stay more than 3 years.

What would your limit be for him? I would pay $9 million (assuming his production per minute stays around what it is now) but that would absolutely be the ceiling. I would feel like the Rockets are getting a very good deal at around $6-7 million a year.
