Is it time to start talking about trading someone other than McGrady?

Not sure you are correct here, he just tried to bring him back, but injuries prevented it.

Don't you think DM is smart enough to see what is going on out there?

If there was a good deal for throwing in Ariza with Tracy, I'd do it, but not for junk. I don't think Ariza is as bad as people are making him out to be. He has been struggling lately. I would like to see him play along side Yao before I totally dismiss him. He isn't a number 1 option as I have said since the trade, but without Yao, our team is trying to find that person.

If we can get another scorer and Yao back, I think Ariza would fit in the system. Ariza needs to fill the 3rd/4th option after Yao, a hopeful other scorer, then Brooks/Ariza/Scola/Landry.

Ariza isnt getting paid superstar money. If he was getting 10+ this year, I'd say he's way over paid, but for 5.8 I don't think that's anything to really complain about. I'm hopeful he will improve. If he still sucks next year, dump him.

People need to realize he is not gonna be traded in the nearest future.

The organization will keep saying that he will do well with Yao in the lineup because he can shoot open 3s, etc.

Don't expect them to come out and say: We are gonna trade Ariza because he is not who we tought he would be.

The guy has signed 5 YEAR DEAL!

Unless we can get a really good deal for both mac and ariza then you keep ariza. He is going to be a key part for when Yao comes back.

How do people not realize this thing where Ariza is one of the primary scoring options is just temporary. This year is more or less a throw away season as no one is expecting the Rockets to really win anything or go anywhere, which is why people are surprised that we are actually in contention. Once we have legitimate scorers, Ariza should be taking the backseat once again. RA is using this season it seems, to see if there is any chance to develope Ariza into an actual scorer.

Top tier defender is debatable. Top tier slasher is a completely ridiculous statement. He is a very poor slasher.

I hate to say it-----but besides the obvious guys at the end of our bench, I would let Scola go before : Brooks, Lowry, Ariza, Budinger, Battier, Hayes, Landry, Anderson---all have a role here, not saying they are better than Scola
The Scolandry combo has been a beast for us, but Landry has improved his game dramatically while Scola's has remained the same. He is still putting up
numbers for us, but I think EVERYONE has figured out......he is going TO THE RIGHT!!!!!!!!!

Scola is a very good player, but came to us as older rookie just like Anderson. He and Landry are both are in a contract year and will
command more money. I just think Scola has reached his ceiling, while
Landry should become our starter and he will continue to develop. I don't think we can resign both, and I want a guy that will continue to improve.

Just so I understand what the pro-Ariza guys are saying, he will be a better fit when Yao returns? How is that when he is an average three point shooter and a horrible midrange shooter? How is the floor going to be spread when this guy can do nothing decent but shoot up spot up threes. Again, he doesn't shoot them well, he shoots them ok.

If I had to let guys go I would go with (in this order):

    Ariza
    Ariza
    Ariza
    Andersen
    Brooks
    Scola
    Battier

I consider guys like Landry, Hayes, Lowry to be practically untouchable due to a combination of skills/salary.

No idea how you can classify Hayes and Lowry as 'untouchable' and Brooks and tradable.

Hayes get paid practically nothing. He's a huge value. I suspect when Lowry is resigned it will be a bargain as well. I also find that the team is consistently better with Lowry on the floor. I think Brooks will be resigned (by someone) for nearly twice what Lowry will get. He isn't twice the player. In fact, he isn't even the best PG on this team at least half the time.

    Now you have an idea.

I would also add that I believe Brooks would bring more back in a trade due to his perceived value. I think Lowry and Hayes are still flying below a lot of people's radar.

Not in the slightest, if they made the move it would be because they made the team better.

Lowry gets paid more than Brooks...

And while I agree with you that when he becomes a FA, he will sign for a good deal more, but that's not for a couple years. Why would you trade him now and not wait until his contract year if we wernt willing to resign him?

The role Ariza is playing right now is not what he will play when Yao returns.

With injuries stacking up everyone is playing out of position scoring alot more than they usually would or shooting a lot more.

Guys keep saying does he realize his limitations??!?! He's trying to overcome his limitations right now.

Adelman is trying to sap as much talent out of these guys as possible.
