If you are a fan of the rockets you can never root for the jazz. You must hate them.

OK F Utah but seriously if the Spurs beat the Suns that WCF is not gonna be good for us Rocket fans. :(

I don't want anyone other the Bulls or the Nets to win this title but both should be out soon

    ha..now you change your mind?

the only teams that i want to win would be detroit, then chicago, then spurs.
defensive teams that prove to people defense still wins championships.

    will always hate the jazz.

    their coach is dirty

this is not the same hated Stockton, Malone, Hornacek, Ostertag team that we faced. Its harder to hate this team cause its a bunch of young players that were developed correctly. its more jealousy than hate this time. it was a team that was built slowly not throwing fat people like bonzi wells at it and presto, nba finals.

i want the suns to win. that would force management to get younger athletic players and a deeper bench.

Utah and San Antonio both are now dirty floppers in my book so I'll go with Phoenix the rest of the way as a sentimental favorite. Also I would give Cleveland an outside shot at winning the title if they can get pass Detroit. Still Suns are getting all my money on Vegas.

If the Spurs cheat their way to the WCF, I may even buy a ****ing Jazz shirt. If I see any dumbass Spurs' fans on the river on Saturday, I'm rupturing their tube with my cig. Or, I may act like I will just to see them flop into the Guadalupe like I shot them.

What the Jazz do want make me feel any better about what happened. We dropped the ball in the first round. We went up 2-0, failed to close out, and lost game 7 on our own floor. Even if we lost to the eventual champs (we didn't), our tail is between our legs. We simply were not an elite team during the postseason. We were not a title contender. We were pretenders.

As a Rocket fan, you should pull for Phoenix. Here's why:

    • Nash getting a championship after leaving dallas would make maverick fans feel even worse than they do now. This, of course, would be a good thing.
    • The dirty spurs would not win another championship.
    • The dirty jazz (and more importantly, their idiotic fans) would still be without a championship
    • A Western Conference team would win the championship.
    • An "offense first" team would finally win the championship and it may influence Les to try and hire a coach who plays that kind of style.

    In a word.

    NO!

I don't care if this isn't the team of Karl Malone and John Stockton. Their statues are in front of their arena. And while the current Jazz aren't bearhugging and kicking people in the nads they still are floppers.

I posted this two weeks ago and I'm still standing by it.

Absolutely. Being a more recent Rockets fan (got here in 99 and just sorta liked the Rockets before that), I don't have this deep seated hatred of them, only a regular hatred as Malone is one of my least favorite players ever.

It's a leap to say that if the Jazz do well, we similarly would have done well since we were one rebound away from beating them. However, if they had gotten spanked by the Warriors, which the majority expected, it would seem clear the Rockets would have stood no chance and had a long way to go.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Jazz do well vs Spurs or Suns and if so, it would support the argument that all those ppl who thought we were contenders pre-playoffs (me included) weren't really that far off. Let's regroup and make some improvements here and there (PG, PF) instead of scrapping what we have and going back to the drawing board (firing JVG/trading one of the big 2).

Being a Rockets fan and then pulling for the Jazz is like a happily married man cheating on his wife. Although I can understand rooting for the Jazz against the Spurs; that's the only acceptable time to root for them.

Always hated the Jazz even though I'm a YOFer without a long history of being a ROX fan.

I would hate rooting for them but hell it would make the 7 game loss a lot more bearable.

As it stands, it looks like we lost to a damn good team that is on fire right now.

your points are valid but i have a real hard time rooting for the jazz. at the same time the sp*rs having 4 rings is pretty disgusting and they've come off as slimebags thus far.

honestly the only things about the nba that interest me are the rockets winning and the mavericks losing.

now that both are gone i really don't care at all when watching these series. i think it'd be awesome if someone from the east won considering how **** that conference is.

brings me to another point. if the rockets were in the east, mcgrady and yao wouldn't be chokers, van gundy would still have a job and we'd fairly easily be in the finals 2 weeks from now. this means nothing because of course ultimately we have to build a team that can get through the west but there's a lot of luck and outside factors that go into success in the nba.

just thinking about that as i read through the garm and how apparently we're in such a dreadful state. really we are in a handful of the best teams in the nba.

If the Jazz were on fire, I'd root for the fire.
