This is the line up I would go with....for this year(if we dont make a trade) Starters PG Aaron Brooks SG Chase Budinger SF Trevor Ariza PF Luis Scola C Chuck Hayes Bench PG Kyle Lowry SG Jermaine Taylor SF Shane Battier PF Carl Landry C David Andersen
It is beyond time. We need that extra scorer to help take the ball out of Ariza's hands. Landry and Lowry bring enough energy and offense off the bench.
Well I think we're all in agreement that Chase should start over Ariza's bum ass but its still a moot point because Adelman loves Shane's and Ariza's offensive production so much
Budinger will help in the shooting department but teams imediately isolate him and he isn't that good of a one on one defender against wings that can create their own shot.
it would be good for the future of the team, but he's not all that great either way, he'll always be a backup unless he starts to shoot lights out like peja back in sac days.
Is it too late in the thread to just answer: YES! (Trade McGrady, Cook and Ariza for a Laker girl or two Heat girls, a bacon cheeseburger, and a bag of basketballs and a 2019 second round pick.)
Right, and it is definitely better that our starting SF shoots 38% from the field and 30% from 3 while our ROOKIE "always a backup" shoots 42% and 36%
Actually, those numbers actually do not impress me a lot. At all. We criticize Ariza a lot for going one on one, but the fact is that our starting line-up has limited offensive options and thus we're forced to use that. But something I've realized on watching this game is: have we ever seen Chase go one on one the way Ariza does. When I think about things, Chase's shots largely come from two things: where he runs through ten thousand screens ala Rip Hamilton to get an open shot or the open 3-pointer off of Brooks. Given that fact, I'm surprised Chase's numbers are that low, and if we shove him into the starting lineup and defenses focus on him more, no doubt his offensive numbers will drop. Combined with the fact that he plays worse defense ( although much better than I expected, and still far superior to that of Wafer), I think keeping Ariza is the best move for now, and Chase should be a spark off the bench. Now you could argue that Chase should have more minutes, and I think that is a realistic possibility, and I do have extremely high hopes for what Budinger will become. But I don't think he's ready yet.
Then could you please, pretty please, ask Trevor to stop attempting those idiotic treys when the rest of the Rockets are trailing him? I suppose taking the shot when we have rebounders within 30 feet of the basket is too much to ask.
I've been biting my lip about this for weeks. But I'll let this issue die rather than try to flare up the civil war again. If we weren't already at the point of no return with regards to him I would be all for arguing the case, but we both know that ship is docked.
That Chase does not score going 1-on-1 should be been seen as mark against him compared to Ariza. Ariza's 1-on-1 offensive moves are awful.
Tmac only makes this terrible defense look worse. Right now defense is the bigger problem than offense. We let opponents score at will, only beat them when we have an outstanding offensive game.
He fits Yao's game nicely. But right now once Brooks is guarded tightly, who's gonna start the offense if nobody scores 1 on 1?
