Of course he didn’t in regards to cap space or draft picks. Refreshing the roster will require trades or patience. Eric Gordon, PJ, Chriss, and Knight have to all be discussed in deals.

FYI that might not be able to happen until the offseason. I’m not saying what Morey did this summer or doesn’t do this year is a fireable offense. It is what it is. With two max players, a player at all star level contract( Capela) and two high priced role players (EG/Knight), your options are pretty limited. Sometimes you gotta wait till the next offseason.

Oh no - we're going to lose due to injuries.

    Solution: Fire the coach?

I don't think we need to fire the coach but I think we have a rough patch ahead of us and MDT is going to have to coach his ass off to get us through it. The supporting cast is going to have to play with urgency and smarts to take the pressure off Harden. As great as he is he can't do it all by himself. If others are not doing their part we will have many games coming up where we are in the 4th quarter and Harden already got his points and 40 minutes of playing time in simply runs out of gas. We can't let that happen. MDT needs to figure this out.

I love the "fire him and replace him with who" counter argument. Am I to believe that when McHale was fired they were pounding the table demanding MDA?

So I should be ban because I ask a question? Yes,MDA has done a great job bring along Capela. His style of let the players work it out is gone. He is going to have to coach, now. His adjustments or lack there of are my concern. Him letting the players run themselves in to ground by short rotation is another concern. MDA was the right coach for our team a few days ago now I am not so sure. I am not assigning blame just wondering if the team direction changes should we find a coach with the skill set to match the new direction. Hard to develop with many younger players with a vet friendly / play only experienced players coach.

Are you arguing that not having a plan is OK, coz if you fire one guy, there's always another guy you'll want to fire after him?

No he was fired because the players hated him(Harden especially), end of story.

We have absoluetely nothing on our bench, dont blame him for our players getting off to a slow start. We would be out of the playoffs without player our starters that many minutes.

Not directly but he did play CP extensive minutes for a 34 yr old which did not help either.

I hope MDA understands the luxury tax.
exceed the threshold by more than $15 million, multiplying by tax rate 3.25. (Knight contract 15 million a year)
exceed the threshold by more than $20 million, multiplying by tax rate 3.75. (Rockets exceed 20 million next year)

This current team is underachieved with 4th highest luxury tax. Both Morey and MDA are hold liable..

That's my point exactly -- how did his replacement work out?

Yeah , I realize that's where we are at …. where we would have been without the Ryno trade too. Both those contracts suck.

That's why I don't want to see him trade away that first round pick just to get rid of Knight …. may as well ride the storm out on that one and hope to recoup some value as the end of the contract nears. Honestly , knowing what we do now , I wouldn't have made the Ryno deal with Phx since the timeline is the same …. and his contract lets you go after bigger targets down the line as Chriss will likely expire and that contract / asset expire with it.

All signs point to Tilfart being a cheap owner …. My daughter in law works for his restaurant chain , knowing how he operates there , if he does the same with this franchise , dark days ahead ….. cheap corner cutting greedy … We'll be begging for Les and the China connection to buy the team back.

It's a good thing MDA has you to explain it to him
