Ibaka is a free agent after this season, they maybe forced to trade him

I'm willing to see where this team, as is, can take us this season, and then dedicate all of our resources (i.e. iPads) to getting Hayward to sign here in the off-season. Any trade you make right now (outside of the dregs of the roster) will hurt this team badly in the short term, and I think seriously affect team chemistry. Right now, the rapport between the entire team is something to behold, and I wouldn't want to bring morale down by bringing in an outsider.

There is no chance we touch the core imo. None whatsoever. Capela, Harrell, Anderson, Dekker, Ariza, Gordon, Beverley, Harden. Those guys are not going anywhere. We're not trading Nene away because he signed cheap and fast, it would take a deal so good that Nene himself would understand. Business is business but these sensitivities do come into play in the NBA. You could make the case that we would include Harrell or Dekker if we get an established productive PF who is not too old and can be retained fairly easily.

That leaves Onuaku, Wiltjer, Brewer, KJ, Ennis, Brown, mediocre 2nd round pick (do we have another one from POR?) and our ~26th pick in the 2017 draft. Our unprotected 2018 pick is probably more valuable, but Morey doesn't do stupid ish like that.

So Ibaka >> that's a somewhat unrealistic dream. Again, we're not getting a good player on a good contract for the PPP. We are not going to break up the core of a team that has won 21 of its last 25 games for Ibaka. There is a small possibility that he lets his team know he is leaving in the summer and he will only agree to an extension with the Rockets. In that case, the Magic will have to quietly take the best version of our PPP and act like it's the trade they chose. However, I would question Ibaka's characted if that happened. They brought him in as a core piece, made him a leader, revived his career, dealt great assets for him. The chances of that happening low, and pretty much everyone on the board would be in for a forced Ibaka trade where all we give up is the PPP and a pick. So no need to discuss further.

Now, more likely options. Someone like Tyson Chandler if they take Brewer back and he agrees that we can waive him for $3m in his final season - that could be a good deal, and it might be a deal he's willing to go with. This is an example of good player, not so good contract, which is what you can get for PPP. He is NEEEEEEEVER going to make 2 full years non-guaranteed lol that's the most ridiculous thing I see all the time, he is not even managed by BJ Armstrong why would he do that. Downside of Chandler? Basically we lose $5m of cap space this coming summer (since Brewer's $7.5m has to go the other way), HOWEVER we don't have enough cap space to sign anyone outright anyway. His contract will be difficult to move but again I don't see why we'd move him. Capela and Chandler for 2 years at a combined $15m/year, you would do it any day of the week. You use him this season and next as super sub, mentoring Capela especially defensively. When Capela is up for the extension, you waive Chandler's final season at $3m. I'm willing to convert Brewer's contract into the more expensive Chandler because that's a guy who will be in the top 8 rotation for 2 years, and a solid part of it. Championship experience, defensive mindset, has worked well with MDA in the past. If we plan to operate above the cap, this is a decent option and you can't deny we would be so much better prepared to face off with contenders with this guy off the bench at the 5. He's kind of like Bogut, but not as good a passer and not a racist c*nt.

Millsap is a possibility but he would cost Harrell and Dekker in addition to the PPP, maybe even have to throw in another pick given Toronto and Boston will offer excellent trades to ATL. Not sure I'd do that.

Koufos, Gay, Dragic, Monroe, Joakim Noah can be had for PPP and a 2nd rounder or 2017 first.

For PPP and no picks, we can basically get..

This is why I keep saying it will be hard to find a better risk/return proposition than:

1) Waive Bobby Brown
2) Sign Chalmers or Jarrett Jack
3) Trade Brewer for literally any C

No risk, solidifies the team in its current form, cap flexibility unaffected, picks and youngsters intact.
