    Wow my thoughts exactly.

This could be pretty much applied to Scola, Lowry and Martin. Especially guys like Martin who have been injured and haven't played to get that next contract.

I wouldn't necessarily throw Lowry in the same conversation as Martin & Scola. Martin & Scola aren't long term solutions, but Lowry can be at the PG spot if the team isn't able to retain Dragic. However, we all know that the front office is going to try what they can to move Lowry for a plentiful bounty in a draft day trade and sign Dragic long term. There is still a possibility that this doesn't work out, and in that case Lowry is your man going forward.

Both Martin & Scola have value to this team moving forward on the basketball court if it happens. Its just with Martin, his contract timetable is his enemy here for his future in Houston. He's going to present high value to a team looking to make a run next year and might see him as the missing piece with low risk at getting strapped financially going forward.

Lowry, can definitely be a long term solution at PG if it happens to work that way. We are all hoping they sign Dragic and trade Lowry on draft day, but we all know that there are a limited amount of buyers on the market for a PG in this all star PG flooded market that is the NBA. Most of the teams that will have interest in Lowry, will also have interest in Goran too. So its going to be an interesting dynamic to see what ultimately happens.

Thank goodness, back to the topic! You summed up nicely how I view Scola and Martin. As a big fan of Luis, I'd love it if we kept him (for the reasons you mentioned) and wouldn't mind at all moving Martin. While most of us would probably like to see Martin go this summer in a draft day trade, you correctly point out that a trade early next year at the deadline is a logical alternative. If moving Scola at either deadline improves the team, then I'll wish him well. My preference would be to keep him, but I'm more interested in team success than in a particular player, no matter how much I like the guy.

Translation: Is it time to tank?
I am anti tanking but I think a great compromise would be to rebuild but compete every night. The pro tank crowd would have $12m players sit on the bench. That's unacceptable to me. We had garbage in 06 but we competed.

Who Needs PF?---------What they can offer
    Boston------------------Future 1st rounder? Maybe lottery(mid-first)
    Charlotte----------------Future 1st rounder? Lottery
    Detroit------------------Villanueva($7.5), Future 1st?
    Brooklyn----------------G. Wallace($9.5M), A. Morrow($4M), Maybe SnT Lopez/Flip 2 Houston/sign DH
    Phoenix-----------------Gortat ($7.2M), Frye($6M) and cap space (TE)

Bold is what I think is more likely to happen.

Who Needs SG?----------What they can offer
Boston-------------------Future 1st rounder? May be late first
    Charlotte-----------------Future 1st rounder? Lottery
    Chicago-------------------Boozer
    Cleveland-----------------Trade exception (cap space)
    NY------------------------nothing
Orlando-------------------Howard (of course not straight up)
    Washington---------------Nene ($13M), Blatche($7M),
    LA Clippers----------------Caron Butler ($8M)
    Minnesota-----------------M. Beasley ($8M)
    Phoenix--------------------Gortat ($7.2M), Frye($6M) and cap space (TE)

I believe there are several desirable options here.
