the rockets won their last ring in 1995 since then the: bulls spurs lakers pistons Heat Celtics have won championships so that would mean that there are 23 other teams in a 30 team league that have gone LONGER since their team last won a ring. So yes it is difficult. Spurs are by far the most consistent team in the era with some smart GM moves and a huge bit of luck (landing Duncan) Lakers 2000s team was great GM job the recent lakers were reassembled through pure luck (getting gasol in one of the most if not the most lopsided trades in history --the lakers w/out Gasol are a good team but not championship caliber IMO) Celtics took nearly 2 decades and made two huge trades and its paid its dividends but it also took some luck too getting KG (why Mchale refused Al, #5 pick, others at first and then took Al and others and no pick is still a mystery based on logic but Mchale has celtic ties) Heat traded in everything for one shot and they got their ring but since then they have been pretty mediocre in a weak east Detroit was put together with some smart GM moves but they too have fallen apart and after 2005 havent really been the same team (certainly not now after all the trades) Right now the Rockets seem to be following in the mold of the Spurs (smart GM'ing through draft and trades) but as you can see all these teams needed either a huge trade and luck. The Rockets have made the trades but certainly have not had the luck in the recent years. thats all there is too it championship (IMO) is a)talent b) coaching c) front office) d)luck there is no way you win a championship without a good combination of all 4 aspects
