re: wright + te, a center who isn't overpaid in this league? is that even possible? i'd try to look for other options. wayne simien isn't going anywhere fast behind all that depth in miami.
And Memphis does this why? Because they feel sorry they robbed us so badly? We're a divisional rival in case some have forgotten. First, the TE is $4.2M... Lo Wright is coming off a $7m contract and MEM has his Bird Rights. Jerry West is not going to give up his starting Center for $4.2M...Lo Wright is absolutely not an option. And if there is a chance on this planet we land Mike James...why do we need Chucky Atkins and Bobby Jackson? So Jason Terry and Marqius Daniels can continue to abuse them like they did in the Dallas playoff sweep. Then again, as dumb as we are, it'll probably be Chucky Atkins for the $4.2M TE and we ship them next years' first round pick. And we'll do that because we're sure we'll be a playoff team so the pick won't be too valuable.
Maybe CD said to West, "Okay we'll trade you Gay and Stro for Battier, but I want a crack at setting up a sign and trade with your free agents" Or am I giving Rox managment too much credit. Edit: And regarding Wright, staying under the luxury tax is probably a big priority in Memphis, so I wouldn't be surprised if they just let Lorenzen walk.
The Grizz should at least toss us a Future 1st. I was dumbfounded when I found out we wouldn't even get their 24th pick.
Rudy Gay is going to add a whopping $1.9M to Memphis' payroll. Given the euphoria they are currently experiencing, they' ll lock in Wright at Battier money...$5.4M...before they'll give him to us. Although, I'm sure our 1st rounder is going to tempt them.
Chicago is looking to unload Chandler and have been interested in Swift for a while. About the same as far as production goes but just diffefrent types of players. Chandler is more defensive oriented/rebounding etc. while Stro gives you that mobile athletic presence.
Well thanks for your thoughtful insight and opinion on what I think could happen. Thats the point of this thread is it not? Its simple, Chicago wants to get rid of Chandler and they have been interested in Stro since we aquired him. Memphis wants gay and would only give up battier to get him. We finally have a trade that makes since for the rox. Why would they give up a PF, and not ask for another in return when they have an old veteran with an irregular heart beat and an NBDL player. They must have had another PF in mind.
Because Shane is the floor spacing/face up shooting 4 the rockets want to use to spread the floor and create mismatches to their advantage. He will split time with JHO.
Damn this thread. I keep coming back here hoping against hope that there will be something here that allows me to make sense of the trade.
Why would the Bulls want Stro for Chandler when they have Tyrus Thomas? Chandler also has a much bigger salary than Stro. We would have to send out more players for a trade with them.
All I know is that they have been scouting Stro for a long time and have been looking to unload Chandlers salary after these playoffs.
We can never move on. Three years from now we'll be looking back when A) Gay either becomes Richard Jefferson and we curse the day this trade was made or B) he becomes Eddie Griffin and we laugh at ourselves for doubting the Rox management. Based on what I've seen of the capabilities of this management it will be A) but we'll only be able to hand CD in effigy because he'll be retired.
I have zero problem with this if Gay becomes Jefferon in 3-5 years and we've already been to the finals a few times.
Yo Strangelove... I really want to know how many posters on CF.net really, REALLY believe that JVG and his "personnel" decisions can actually take us to the promised land (NBA Finals) in any of the next three years!!! If there were bookies taking bets on each of the next three seasons and giving what would hopefully be decreasing odds for each consecutive year (that's assuming the ROX record improves each year) who would put their OWN money on the line?? I love the ROX like no other Houston Sports Franchise.... I've been a DIE HARD fan since 1985. So, I've got 21 years into this love/hate relationship, but guys I don't believe JVG is the guy to take us there. Even with Yao and TMAC. JVG and his "braintrust" simply don't have the vision or creativity to get it done. Also, I'm not sure Les has his heart in it to win anymore. Dude got 2 Trophies from the boys and 4 from the girls and I think he's happy to just put butts in the seats and market his product. He doesn't have to worry about a new arena and the ROX are a money making venture... So until I see actual signs of intelligent life in the front office, I'll continue to be skeptical!!
Yao's going to take us there despite the boobs in the front office. I have a crazy amount of faith for the big fella.
