Big Ben might have been 6'9 with the afro, I'll give you that. ;) But he measured 6'7 in pre-draft workouts, and with his hair down its obvious he isn't 6'9. Here he is standing next to LeBron:

Regarding Dorsey, him being a non-factor this season really has nothing to do with his size. Based on what happened this season, that pick should be criticized for not properly taking into account Dorsey's lack of commitment and professionalism.

BTW, here's an old 82games article on "True Height Index" that might be of interest.

You're ignoring the time value of money.

Chances are that he would not be the back up center however anything can happen and surprises have been good for the Rockets the past years, despite the injuries. Carl, Brooks were surprise packages two years ago and last year it was Wafer. Next Season= Dorsey?

    Ben Wallace was 6'9".

    Jeoy Dorsey is 6'8".

The Pistons have won a championship in 2004 with Ben Wallace as the defensive center anchor.

Joey Dorsey can be just as effective.

not to contradict my own thread, but the way morey openly scrutinized dorseys mentality makes me think that he really has not been happy with dorsey's attitude. perhaps this is one of his ways to send a small message to joey. he tells about how good he could be, but says that its all up to joeys determination and mindset...itll be interesting to see the future of joey.. ;)

It really is up to Joey. I wouldn't just sit here and hope he is going to get better though. Our clock is ticking and we definitely need to look at other options. I honestly would like a vet like Mutumbo on our team. This team has enough youth in it. We have Scola, landry, wafer, brooks and lowry. We need a Center that can pull some weight and be some sort of guidance. Someone who can still contribute though. I still wonder why we picked up brent barry in the first place.

i wouldnt be surprised if dorsey dont even make the team... he's gonna have to show he's got some game in the summer league and preseason...
i dont see the point of having both dorsey and hayes, they're practically clone of 1 another...
dorsey and cook are taking up roster spots!

Is that some sort of NBA rookie initiation?

To be honest I think Dorsey was brought it too to be a younger cheaper Chuck Hayes, but it just didnt really happen. Something about Chuck is just special. He is a great situational guy to sit at the end of your bench and come in on guys like Aldridge where Scola just gets lit up.

chuck is much smarter AND he cares deeply, Dorsey appears to have motivational issues...and that matters ALOT to how good a NBA player you turn out to be.

If he was just a few inches taller, Chuck would be the BEST paint defender in the league instead of just one of the best.
