if she does crush this guy then there is basically nothing you can do about.
like you said you are young and you being 17 she is the same age. you have alot more life to live and will realize you havent done enough or seen enough in life to be stuck in one spot.
a relationship is based off trust we all know that.
she told you she cares about you that much then it will show. but if she decides to talk to another guy then you know it was all lies.
ask her about in a jokingly way. it may be harmless. if not get rid of her quickly because if she does decide to "talk" to the guy and he isnt what she thought then she will run back to you realizing how dumb her decision was.
im sure he is a flirt. especially if he knows she is in a relationship. he may just be seeing if he can "get" her.

First thing... Make sure your bangs grow out long... try to wear lots of gray hoodies with the top kind of halfway over your head with your bangs sticking out over at least 1 of your eyes at one time. Wear eyeliner.

Second thing... music. **** all that bull**** you used to listen to. Chris Carrabba and Connor Oberst are your new Lords and Saviors.

Third thing... start crying and stuff. Be very emotional and come to school with cuts all over your arms.

I'm seconding this point. You're only 17 and I presume she is too. Both of you have a lot more living to do and frankly both of you probably don't full know what you want yet. Its not easy being a teenager in a relationship but chances are this won't be your first or last relationship and neither will it be her's.

I'm not going to tell you to break up with this girl but be prepared for that to happen. If so its not the end of World and as a young guy with college and the rest of your life ahead of you there will be others.
